The BBC's political coverage has been in the toilet at least since Laura Kuenssberg (aka Boris Johnson's personal fluffer) became political editor, and ever since she was booted from that post they've not really improved. It's not just that there's impartiality, it's that there's impartiality from both ends of the political spectrum. That's not balance, it's the BBC being at war with itself, with everyone in a position of power pushing their own agenda. It's laughably unprofessional. I have a friend who worked at the BBC for a few years, and the impression I got from him was that the production / backroom staff are excellent, the celebs are mostly fine (some divas, as you'd expect) and the executives are the worst sort of petty, backstabbing ladder-climbers you can imagine.

The rot set in 30 years ago when they didn't give Alan Partridge his 2nd series.

I'm not a fan of The Telegraph but this video explained it well to me
Thanks for that. Yes, that was pretty idiotic; it's not like there's a shortage of material for nailing Trump to the wall of public opinion, I'm not sure he's said two true things since he took office. That absolutely speaks to mismanagement.

And, naturally, because Trump is nothing if not insanely litigious. In fairness I think the Beeb have already admitted fault here by its two top people leaving positions because of it, so this will hardly be a drawn out process, but who's to say Trump won't push this further.

Edit: That headline's not appearing correctly at the moment. Trump is threatening to sue for $1billion if the BBC don't retract and formally apologise.

No doubt we'll never hear about this again.

The inventor will be found at the bottom of a river, wearing cardboard and mud boots...
