It looks fine, I guess? I was constantly comparing it to A Knight's Tale throughout that, let's face it it bears more than a passing resemblance.

...but I just don't have any enthusiasm for that setting. The ending of GoT thoroughly poisoned that particular chalice for me.

I've never bothered with House of the Dragon, the end of GoT pretty much poisoned the whole franchise for me as well. But this looks good, almost looks like a tv series of Kingdom Come.

I didn't mind HotD (only saw S1 though), and I'd be up for more GoT.

Yeah, that's a fair comparison. The Dunk and Egg stories have a much lighter adventure tone than the grimdarkness of GoT and HotD.

I'm glad it's not a reboot and I'm glad it's not being made by Disney... because if it was O'Neill and Jackson would be fucked Β¬_Β¬

It's not a reboot? Well hot damn. I've not been able to get excited about all the talk of a new Stargate series over the last decade because it sounded like they wanted to throw out the SG-1 continuity and just do a separate sequel to the film. I re-watched the film earlier this year; it's not bad, but it's definitely not the reason I love the franchise as a whole.

This is great news. I finished the entire series only about 6 months ago and was only thinking about it the other day. If its a continuation of SG1 (and presumably Atlantis) won't there be a few issues as to who the main enemy is going to be
Spoiler
seeing as they pretty much wiped out all of them
? Also with a bigger budget, all alien planets will no longer just look like some pine forest in Canada

I wouldn't object to them doing a completely new plot and set of characters - much as I'd enjoy it, they'd be limiting their audience too much if they required a lot of knowledge of shows that ended 20 years ago. I just don't want them pretending like any of the major events of SG-1 and Atlantis didn't happen. Atlantis ends with the city arriving on Earth, I think that opens up a lot of potential plots for this if it does still follow the Tau'ri; the Stargate Programme is no longer secret, and there'll have been 20 years of research (assuming they still stick with a contemporary timeframe - it'd allow the older actors to make cameos if needed) into the Ancients' technology.

Universe would kind of have been the ideal new series right now.

Oh man, this would never happen but what if this ends up as an earth based mission to save Robert Carlisle and the finale features the cast of universe, aged as they are, hinting at 10+ seasons of adventures they’ve been having that we didn’t get to see. Yeah, I would be on board for that!
