Makes me wonder if the Thief games are next for the remaster treatment.
The gameplay in thief still holds up surprisingly well. A remaster with little more than a fresh coat of paint would be worth it. Maybe a better inventory interface.

Thief is getting that VR game so the franchise is clearly still up for releases, I feel like remasters will be coming at some point. I think the engine System Shock 2 used originated with The Dark Project, so Nightdive will at least have experience with it.

I didn't play Thief 1 or 2 when they first came out, and by the time I got round to trying them they were just a bit too archaic for me, so Thief 3 ended up being my proper entry into the franchise.

I could definitely see myself trying a remaster of one of both of the first 2 games.

They are old as balls now but still very playable. The voice acting and sound design is also still very good even by today's standards. I do believe there are RTX mods available but if thats just cherry picked sections or the full game I don't know.

Our creative and passionate teams at EA have delivered extraordinary experiences for hundreds of millions of fans, built some of the world's most iconic IP, and created significant value for our business. This moment is a powerful recognition of their remarkable work, said Wilson
...before adding "but that's all they're fucking getting. Right, who's for massive layoffs to pay off the $20billion loan we took out to pay for this?"

Christ, I didn't think EA could get a whole lot worse, but as with everything these days, the bottom of the barrel is only as low as your imagination takes it.

It's worth noting that Kushner's group is the same one that's buying Tik Tok, which has already been earmarked to become a MAGA hellhole. EA games - your Battlefields, your EA Sports and the like, has access to a huge amount of impressionable young men. Kushner has been given multiple billion-dollar investments by Saudi Arabia, and the Crown Prince once described him as being "in his pocket." Let's not forget he was denied a US security clearance because he was considered too risky, before Trump stepped in and reversed that decision. There's so much illegitimate money being funnelled into this that it stinks to high heaven.

I think the best-case scenario here is that Saudi Arabia are going to use EA for "games-washing", similar to how they've been using F1 and the World Cup to sports-wash their unbelievably awful reputation. At worst, EA's games output is going to be another arm of the right-wing media.

The saudis did bring SNK back from the near dead(even if it did cost the dumbest guest characters ever). Maybe MDK just really wants to be cool and bring back Desert Strike and Syndicate.

Sorry MBS not MDK. His names not murder death kill, that would be silly.

Considering starting a Youtube channel consisting entirely of a Sims house full of Saudi princes and their explicitly consensual relationships. Instant demonetisation will be mandatory. I'll call it EA's Big Gay Saudi Party Palace.

Jared Kushner is allowed to sit in the corner of the house and watch. No alochol, though - I don't want it to be disrespectful.

Easy boycott for me, can't even remember the last time I played an EA game.

If you recall that update I posted in April of a possible Prototype remaster, yesterday both 1 & 2 received their first updates on Steam in a decade out of the blue...

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/a- ... -remaster/
Updated credits include remaster studio Iron Galaxy and references to a "Ubisoft Connect Version" that doesn't currently exist.

Now this is one remaster I can get firmly behind.

Game Pass Ultimate going up to £23 a month.

And that's me out.

Yeah, I've barely used it for ages, I mainly keep the sub up for the rare occasions my kids want to play Minecraft multiplayer.

I'll probably just buy the odd month here and there if something I want to play lands on it.

I un-subbed earlier in the year after I realised how little I was using it; I was going through a subscription-service purge and it didn't make the cut. They're also cutting probably the biggest feature, the day-one releases, for anything but the Ultimate tier. £22.99 is too much for a monthly sub for anything with my income, and I'm not going to resub to an inferior product.

We all knew that the price would eventually increase to the point where it wasn't worth it anymore, no company is that generous for so long. It was good while it lasted. Given they're doing this off the back of pure greed, what with the service having just had a record year for revenue, it'll be interesting to see whether it backfires and they lose money on it.
