Some years ago, after some initial alarm and long-term experimentation, I discovered that I'd somehow suddenly become lactose-intolerant in my 30s. I went through all the different non-dairy alternatives - for taste I generally preferred soy milk, oat is ok but I found I had to use a lot of it to sufficiently lighten tea/coffee to my taste - but in the end I just started buying lactose-free cow milk. I understand it's basically the same as 'normal' milk, but at some point in the process they add an enzyme that digests all the lactose.

It wouldn't work for your particular issue I guess Doug (unless it's actually the lactose in the milk that's causing the problem), but it's nice there's a variety of alternatives nowadays.

Cows milks health benefits to humans has been one of the most insidious and sucsessful misinformation campaigns ever. Oatly is fab!

I haven't yet nerved myself up to buying the more expensive 'Oatly' brand, but this week I tried something from Lidl called Vemondo Oat Barista which has been my favourite brand thus far.

Next week when I go shopping I might upgrade to Oatly and compare it.

My state more base than are the basest valleys;
I wish no evenings more to see, each evening;
Shamed, I hate myself in sight of mountains,

It’s weird, the ingredients are pretty much the same yet Oatly is much more creamy than the others. The trick is it’s usually always on sale somewhere, I find out where and go buy a crapload at a time. If I pay more than £1.50 I feel robbed ;)

I just made myself a late breakfast with a bagel and two eggs. I cut the bagel in half, put olive spread on the insides, placed those face down on a frying pan, cracked two eggs and emptied them into the holes in the centre of each half-bagel, then turned up the heat and pushed it all about it a bit, flipped it over, and when it was done I'd made some kind of fried bagel egg sandwich. Absolutely delicious.

I've recently cobbled together a PC from old parts (10+ years old, except for a new PSU) and have set it up running Linux Mint and Jellyfin as a lovely open-source streaming server for my DVD collection. While I'm a strong supporter of physical media and that will remain my main way of watching stuff, the reality is that DVDs are an aging, fragile media. Out of about 1000 discs that I've ripped so far, I've had maybe 8 discs that have had errors, and that number will inevitably increase over time. Also, ripping 1-to-1 quality for a DVD is easy, so there's no loss.

I'm not bothering with ripping blu rays and 4ks since blu rays are far more durable than DVDs and achieving 1-to-1 quality with the disc is much more difficult (especially with things like Dolby Vision) and results in astronomical file sizes.

I'm impressed with Jellyfin overall. It's a little rough around the edges at times (which is to be expected with it being open-source) but is pretty good at automatically grabbing metadata for each file, and it's easy to correct it when, for instance, it decides that It's a Wonderful Life is the 1994 Hong Kong comedy of the same name, as opposed to the far more likely 1946 classic. Potentially one to add to the collection, though.

It's also much more convenient to watch TV shows this way rather than swapping discs, but it also reminded me of the importance of physical media when I was ripping Scrubs and Community - two shows where Disney+ and Netflix have either replaced music with expired licences or removed episodes entirely for utterly stupid reasons. Now I have the real, original version ready to stream for life. Physical media wins every time, even when the discs aren't being used.

All in all, a really fun project! I still have thousands of discs left to rip, though...

South Park closing a $1.5 billion five year deal with twunt-appeasing Paramount, then ripping the shit out of the painted turd with their first episode, brutal.

The 'pro' Trump PSA at the end is labelled as #1 of 50, and their deal is for 50 episodes, so the White House is going to have to maintain their fury for a good while yet. :lol:

EDIT - The White House statement is hilarious:
This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention. President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history – and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.
Why are they giving Parker and Stone pure gold ammunition like "hot streak"?! :lol:

It's funny for them to be attacking South Park for not being relevant, when, due to the show's insanely quick turnaround times (they're written, animated, voiced and broadcast within 6 days start to finish), it's quite possibly the most relevant TV programme, beaten only by the news.

I can absolutely see there being a Hot Streak joke in next week's.

Wow, fantastic work! I've bought quite a few indie games after seeing them on your channel (most recently The Roottrees are Dead, which is great fun), so cheers for that. :)

Yes I enjoyed that one, even if I got roasted in the comments for not knowing what a second cousin is :lol:

I'll be honest, even after completing the main game I'm still not entirely sure. :lol: And don't get me started on whatever once-removed means.
