Prügl ponders what clues might be discerned with the remaining options for progress...the North seems too glaringly "right", and he is reminded of an ancient scripture waring that a way that seems easy to a man will almost certainly lead to ruin...then there is the arrangement of torches that seem to be signalling a funnel to the arachnid in the east...and he wonders if that passage is above the tunnel used to enter this chamber...

In an effort to prove my sword wrong, and discouraged from the spider antics to the east, I adopt a mask of confidence and stride down the north corridor.

What does Alpha's nose pick up; what would be the most interesting smell? Fechr will follow Alpha.
Alpha begins moving toward the northern corridor, following Lord Margar, where he stops and begins growling, the hair on his back standing up on end.

You do have an Omen today which you could use to lower the target by -4 and thus succeed on that roll.

But it's your only Omen today.

I'll use it. That's what it's there for, I guess!

Actually, my mistake, the target test here is DR16, not DR12.

If you want to use the Omen, you'll have to actually roll again and hope for a higher result.

I'll give it another roll, fingers crossed...

Alas, you fail! And yet...nothing immediately untoward seems to happen.

Lord Margar proceeds cautiously down the corridor towards the dimly-lit room at the other end.

Suddenly, emerging from around the corner, and blocking the corridor, stands a terrifying figure:

This obviously undead horror is draped in the garb of an infirmary nurse; one who once cared for the sick and dying.

Alpha begins barking ferociously.

The nurse stares at Lord Margar with her blank eyes and immediately performs some kind of PSYCHIC ATTACK on him!

Test Presence again, Lord Margar!

Better this time. 16 + 3 = 19.

If I'm able, I'll attempt to say "H-hello there! Bit drizzly today, isn't it? Not to intrude, but have... have you seen a staff around here, perhaps?"

BLADE OF THE ANCESTORS:
"Pathetic. I suppose you always were better at talking with dumb animals!"

Ignoring Lord Margar, the nurse drifts past him and stares at Fechr, resuming her psychic attack on the next nearest target.

Fechr, test Presence!

Isn't one of the group capable of dealing specifically with the undead or did I imagine that?

Also is the this the titular rotting nurse of the chapter?
