Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
Re: Trump
I don't think anyone's questioning that he'd done terrible things, but it's entirely irrelevant. A civilised nation does not ignore domestic and international law to publicly murder someone they don't like.
If the general had been in Britain for whatever reason and Trump had bombed his car here, what do you expect the British public's response would be?

Re: Trump
He’s also not a guy that hides. They could almost literally have taken him out at any point in the last ten years but they didn’t because of the consequences. He was trying to manipulate Iraq and has been but now Iraq is much more wide open to Iran than it was a week ago. If it was as easy as kill the bad guy old North Korea would have had a drone strike or two by now.

						Re: Trump
And in fairness why would he hide? The US is not at war with Iran (although possibly soon thanks to that deranged orange Edwin) who the hell thinks it is OK to go around assassinating people you dislike?
What a fucking absolute fucknugget he is.

Re: Trump
He's being impeached, there's an election coming up, he's a fucking scumbag. If your in a war it's harder to get a new president elected so why not start a new war? He's also promised to sanction Iraq into oblivion if they kick the US out, this is a supposed ally.

Re: Trump
I do agree this is all to divert from his impeachment and Americans feel guilty voting against the Chief when they are at war. So the timing is to be questioned but as a Brit with Iraqi heritage who has seen his country of birth fucked by Saddam than 2 wars and now is being controlled by the Iranians - I mean give the country a break.
I have no qualms about this general being assassinated because I am sure he was planning some jihad shit

I get that you have a personal take on this that perhaps we can’t fully appreciate. But can you not see that assassinating foreign dignitaries, however vile and dangerous they may be, is banned internationally for good reason? And if we allow international law to be broken with impunity then we may as well not bother having it at all and go back to barbarism, where might determines right. This is a big deal, and it shouldn’t be dismissed because the assassination target was a terrible person.
It’s also a worrying precedent that Trump ordered this strike apparently unilaterally and without consultation or approval with allies or Iraq. If he can do this, what other reckless orders can he give that will be carried out?

Good grief. He's actually now using war crimes as a threat.

You know who spurred the UN to consider destruction of cultural heritage sites a war crime? Fucking ISIS.

Re: Trump
But therein lies the difference surely? Holding to a higher standard, a higher purpose, is the right thing to do. You can't sink to the basest levels or where does it end. Humans in general are basically kind and decent, it is just a shame that turds always float to the top.Achtung Englander wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 6:47 pmThe white hat guys play fair while the black hat guys can do what they want to do

Re: Trump
Nah, I think Achtung has a point. The whole of the Middle East has caused us enough problems the last fifty years alone. Let's just bomb the lot of them, weighing up the collateral I reckon we'd take out enough of the bad ones.
Oh wait, no that's a ridiculous idea because civilized nations don't just go around bombing people they don't like. Easy to forget that sometimes.

Donald Trump has just committed an act of war. This assassination is going to hurt America far more than help in the long run, and it doesn't seem to be having a great effect on rallying support for the President as polls in America suggest that many disagree with Trump's actions towards Iran.

Re: Trump
I wouldn't be at all surprised, but I'm also not prepared to take the US media's word for it (not that I'm taking Iranian officials word either; there's too much riding on this investigation and both sides have vested interests) I've seen distant footage of the crash, and the aircraft was fully on fire when it went down - I'm hardly an air crash investigator, but it was clearly more severe than just engine trouble.
