What was on the corpse-paper again?

You never knew, as you can't read it, for it's written in Wästish, instead of some dead language ¬_¬

Yeeees, but as a group did we learn what was on it? It's just that, as Sly the player rather than Giant the pale-faced goon, I've no memory of picking it up and would like to know if it's important

I mentioned it in my introductory post, just before Wemut opened the cell door. You raided the pockets of the worm-riddled corpse in your cell during your one-month sleep-over.

Fechr and Lord Margar found silver coins, GDTS found the paper, but as the party has had no light to read it by, no-one yet knows...

Aha! I'd completely forgotten that!

In that case, as everyone is rummaging in the chest, Giant will press the folded corpse-paper into Margar's hands, suspecting it may be of some importance.

[Wrathbone]

I nod in acknowledgement, then fold it up and put it away for later.




....Oh, go on then. I'll give it a skim.

(Hopefully it doesn't explain that our rescuer is en route, cunningly disguised as Wemut ¬_¬)

I take a few practice swings using my reclaimed two-handed axe to bat the severed head around like a golf ball. Not hard enough to damage it, but it's been a month and I want to build the muscle memory again.

(Hopefully it doesn't explain that our rescuer is en route, cunningly disguised as Wemut ¬_¬)

The paper is a bond, signed and sealed in the name of Baron Risten V. The wax shows the boar's head of his coat of arms.

The parchment says that the Baron Risten owes the holder of this bond...

...Lord Margar blinks...

...his entire estate!

No wonder the paper's original owner was left to rot (quite literally) in the dungeon!

Seeing Margar is happy with the contents of the note, Giant will reclaim it from his stunned fingers, fold it carefully, and place it back in his pocket (for later consumption, paper is tasty).

He pats the pocket contentedly.

How many seconds before Giant is clubbed unconscious so Margar can get the note back?

[Wrathbone]

"Wait, Giant! I fear holding this document may place you in... grave peril!" I hold my hands up and wiggle my fingers for added peril. "But not to worry, as I, your humble liege lord, will bear this burden in your stead. I have been granted protections against such things by... uh... the Sorcerous Poohbah of... Ovverdereland... far away, a long time ago."

I smile and hold my hand out expectantly.

Giant consults with Precious for several moments. Finally, he nods, and grudgingly hands the paper back to Margar.

He vows to consume the next piece of parchment the party finds as a reward.

[Stormbringer]

Right, so now that everyone's got their basic gear back (sans magical weapons)...what now?

Emboldened by having my axe back, and annoyed that I don't have my 100 silver coins back, I'll walk back into the corridor, axe over one shoulder, severed head under the other arm. I want to walk to the first corner that we've not explored around yet, and poke my head around.

Giant will follow Fechr.

[Stormbringer]

In doing so, Fechr finds another hallway, leading north, lit by a single torch on the wall at the end.

There is a passage leading off on the left, and two closed doors on the right.

Giant will approach the closest door and deploy his by-now familiar 'closed door' protocol...
