Re: General Film News
I'd actually give the new Rambo a chance seeing how much I thoroughly enjoyed the last one.

Re: General Film News
I am excited about that (Matrix 4). Actually, this is good timing, as only last night I thought: "It has been 20 years this month since I saw The Matrix in the cinema. I'd really love there to be another Matrix film."
I also loved the 2008 John Rambo film, by the way, and look forward to the next instalment.

Re: General Film News
If I remember correctly the last Matrix ended with a truce, it would be great if the next one was a prequel set in the Machine War showing how the world came to be in it's state in the first film.

Not sure how a prequel would work with a clearly near-20 years older Reeves and Moss.Hatredsheart wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 7:05 amIf I remember correctly the last Matrix ended with a truce, it would be great if the next one was a prequel set in the Machine War showing how the world came to be in it's state in the first film.

Wasn't Neo destroyed at the end of #3?

Well, he did die, and the machines took away his body. I suppose they could find a way to bring him back, somehow, using the laws of sequels.

Not sure how they'd pull off the idea in the article of having a younger casting for Morpheus if they're confirmed to be bringing Reeves and Moss back. Maybe it will be good, who knows. The Wachowski's haven't really produced much of value since the first Matrix movie so I'm not going to get my hopes up.
Call me a cynic but it seems to me to be another case of "It's been X years since this popular movie, let's destroy it's spirit by making a dodgy and unnecessary sequel to rake in the dollars because nostalgia sells better than new ideas".
2008 Rambo is actually excellent though. I think it's far better than all the ones that came before it.

Re: General Film News
The first Rambo film is pretty good, it's not really an action film. 2 is amusing, 3 is an utter shit show. Bit like the Matrix really
Re: General Film News
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold up there. You must be forgetting the gripping, inspiring ending where John Rambo and Colonel Trautman stand against the entire Soviet army and look at each other with determination:
"Whaddya say, John?"
"....Fuck 'em!"
After which the noble Taliban arrive on horseback and proceed to slaughter the evil Ruskies by the hundreds, in a manner that puts the ewoks vs the Empire to shame. And then Rambo drives a tank into a helicopter, because he's John fucking Rambo.
We will never see the likes of Rambo 3 again.

OMG, Predator and the director's cut Robocop, true classics.

So what are we thinking in regards to...
It looks more faithful than I would have thought. I imagine the overlook replaces the gallows platform for cinematic universe consistency. I’m slightly optimistic though they seem to be putting a lot of nostalgia effort in and I’m not sure that’s for the best.
Roses hat is not at a jaunty angle though!
I’ve never been a fan of Kubrick Shining (amazing scenes, poor movie) but I’ve also not seen it in 15 years so we’ll probably give that a rewatch soon, maybe I’ll reassess.

The most bizarre thing in that summary is that a fossil fuel company also runs media production companies.
That's some serious diversification.
