Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

I've been listening to more of Hegseth and Trump's speeches from yesterday. Hegseth is an absolute wretch and his entire tirade was despicable, but Trump... good lord, WTF was that? He's known for inane waffling, I grant, but this was a whole new level. A complete stream-of-consciousness brain fart; ceaseless rambling not unlike Grandpa Simpson talking about making toast and how he used to wear an onion on his belt (which was the style at the time). On the rare moments where he briefly settled on an actual topic, it was bizarre:

It is something we're considering, the concept of battleship. Nice six-inch side, solid steel. Not aluminum, aluminum that melts if it looks at a missile coming at it. Starts melting as the missile's about two miles away.

I am a very aesthetic person. I don't like some of the ships you're doing aesthetically. They say, "Oh, it's stealth." That’s not stealth. An ugly ship is not necessary in order to say you're stealth.

The fuck?

At one point he told the audience of 800+ commanding officers that he likes to sign stuff with a special pen, on big, beautiful paper, not cheap paper. And somehow that transformed into a dig at Hunter Biden.

He has to have some form of dementia.

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him in so far as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency, or otherwise, he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth—whether about the president or about anyone else—save in the rare cases where this would make known to the enemy information of military value which would otherwise be unknown to him.

We can but hope the generals and admirals feel the same way.
