I just finished watching
The Terror, an adaptation of Dan Simmons' novel of the same name.
It's a fictionalised and fantastical depiction of the doomed
Franklin expedition, that sought to find the elusive North-West Passage between Canada and Greenland aboard the two ships HMS Terror and HMS Erebus.
An excellent show, with first-rate actors doing first-rate acting, incredible cinematography and intricate historical detail, blended with a gripping surrealism as the crews deal with the growing peril of their situation.
There are other seasons of the show that deal with entirely different stories, but I am not interested in those.
"Kingdoms and empires pass away like mist from the sea; the people shout and triumph and even in the revelry of Belshazzar's feast, the Medes break the gates of Babylon."
— Robert E. Howard, The Gates of Bal-Sagoth
