Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook - Completed
Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
In the meantime, I'm wondering what we should do once we've rescued the cook. If we were playing a normal campaign, I'd recommend exploring more of the dungeon to get as much loot as possible to spend before the next quest. But it depends how Doug wants to go about things.
In a way, it's a bit unlucky we discovered the quest room straight away! Usually you have to battle through a fair amount before getting there, perhaps even find some items to utilise before the final battle.

Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
Normally a Quest Room in AHQ is just a heavily-guarded stairway down to the next dungeon level, but I had actually intended from the start to have it so that the Quest Room, once it was discovered, was the room where the Halfling actually was, to keep things short and simple and easy. I totally wasn't expecting it to be the second room you found, but honestly, it's quite tiring and time-consuming running a forum board game, and while I enjoy it while it lasts, I don't particularly want to keep it going after the Halfling is rescued. It's been a good little taster into the mechanics of Advanced Hero Quest and hopefully it will inspire you with your own projects and hobbies in the future.
What I would like to do is do a little epilogue sequence where you go back to the town, play the rules about living in the town, then leave it on a cliff-hanger so that your characters are ready to go on another adventure in the future, but either leave that up to yourselves, or perhaps I will organise another Quest once I've recovered from this one. ¬_¬
Anyway, we're getting way ahead of ourselves.
Gibnar prods the Orc with his spear but fails to penetrate. Gibnar, are you going to tactically withdraw to allow Bellis a way out? If so, where do you go?
Here is the map again, for those who can't find it:

Actually I'd like you to do this full time for the next 6 months if that's okay? Proper full campaign, the works.Stormbringer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 9:09 pmI totally wasn't expecting it to be the second room you found, but honestly, it's quite tiring and time-consuming running a forum board game, and while I enjoy it while it lasts, I don't particularly want to keep it going after the Halfling is rescued. But seriously though, it has got me dying to play it for real again.
Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
I'll admit I'd hoped our adventures would last just a little longer than two rooms

It's time for Bellis to do his business!
Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
I'll take a swing at the Orc below me and then make a move for the square to the left of Gibnar.

Okay. Perhaps, say, a week after we finish up with this one I'll continue with another quest. I might throw in a bit of extra gold to spend, make it feel like there's a bit of progression.Stormbringer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 9:28 pmI'll give you the original PDFs.
