I take it the pointer is touch? They’d need to rework Prime 3 a fair wee bit to make it feel and work well.

I must admit my initial enthusiasm has been dented a bit by the fairly scummy way that Nintendo have approached the distribution of this one, but also because frankly I expected a bit more from a re-release. Higher resolution rendering is a big improvement, sure, but I really would have preferred that they could outright redo the controller mapping and a few of the gameplay elements in Galaxy to be more suitable for the Switch.

Unless portability is a big thing for you, Dolphin is such a phenomenal emulator its worth a look. Galaxy in native ultrawide is a real good looker. Also the VR fork is surprisingly good.

Rumours swirling this morning that people should temper their expectations regarding the Direct later today. Personally I never expected Botw 2, or whatever it is going to be called, to be a 2021 game once it was a no-show during the first Direct. It's fairly well known that Japan and Nintendo in general have really struggled with adapting to working from home during COVID. I have no idea what their Q4 release schedule is going to be because right now there is nothing on the slate. I still expect some kind of Zelda collection in the same vein as the Mario one last year but that can't be their big release for Q4.

I did go in with pretty low expectations, particularly given the rumours of the new Switch Pro console being announced beforehand turned out to be untrue. We did get some new hardware... but it's another of those Game and Watch handhelds with versions of the two NES Zeldas as well as the original version of Link's Awakening. It's a nice little object, but I just don't see the point in these things when you could be playing the games on the Switch instead. Still, there were a small handful of good things in there:

-A full remake of Advance Wars 1 and 2, updated to Switch-quality visuals.
-A new 2D Metroid game, Metroid Dread, which certainly looks like a metroidvania game rather than some rubbish spinoff.
-The Switch version of Zelda: Skyward Sword launches in July.
-A trailer for Breath of the Wild 2, along with the vague release window of 2022.

Came expecting a bunch of rubbish and got a reason I need to buy a switch again… Advance Wars!

Is it 1:1 remake but with better graphics?

Edit: actaually, that’s real ugly and cheap looking

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the new Warioware game. A good amount of games announced but nothing that really interests me, I'd rather they had released Advance Wars 1+2 as GBA games via the Online service. Very much feels like a slate of games that has been effected by the pandemic. Next Zelda game is looking good though.

New Switch OLED announced.

Out 8 October.

- 64GB internal storage
- new speakers
- new dock with Ethernet port
- new adjustable stand
- new OLED screen, 7 inches

No new innards which is a disappointment.

Same joycons is a bigger disappointment.

I suppose it's possible they've at least corrected the innards of the joycon without mentioning it.

Bit of a waste of time though given people are still expecting a more powerful model. Those features probably should have been in the original model to begin with. I'd love to have an Ethernet port, but I'm not going to upgrade or buy a new dock to get one.
