I think it is great that it is just objects and they haven't anthropomorphised them at all.
Indeed. Why bother when certain parts of the internet will inevitably do the anthropomorphisation for you.

I'm sure they'll have really creative movesets, but there's just something a little underwhelming about them for me. They'll presumably work quite well in context though.

Nintendo's financials for the first quarter are looking pretty good.

Animal Crossing 22.4m units sold since launch.
Switch at 61.4m with 5.68m being sold in the first financial quarter, that's a 166% increase year on year.
Digital software is up 230% and game sales up 123%.
AC sales are now ahead of every other Switch game except Mario Kart.
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics have both sold 1m copies each since launch.

Deservedly so. They've smashed it out of the park with the Switch and so many of the first party games for it.

They really couldn't have timed this year's Animal Crossing any better; I think everyone needed that little bit of escapism it offered back in april and may. I'd be interested to see how Switch software sales compare to those of Sony and Microsoft; a huge number of people had extra time to play games this year, and I'm curious as to whether it was a trend for the industry as a whole or whether it was just Nintendo.

Both Sony and Microsoft saw increases in revenues for the first quarter so it's been something that has benefited the whole industry.

Nintendo dropped a bunch of videos on the internet for the Mario 35th anniversary.

The last one is the biggest one, Super Mario 3D Allstars, out 18th September but only available for six months because Nintendo are idiots.

No they aren’t, they’ll sell them individually and make more money.

It's a shame that SMG2 isn't included in that package, as it was better in almost every way to the first Galaxy, but that's still a hell of a lot of game in one package and I'll absolutely be buying it.

Going down the emulation route will make it easier to create more collections in the future, say a Metroid Prime collection.
