Xbox & Microsoft News/Discussion

In place of the old Xbox thread. Rather than have two single threads for PS4 and Xbox totally dominate all discussion in this folder, could you please post individual threads for any console games you'd like to discuss, similar with how we have a Steam thread in General Gaming but separate game threads. It'll breathe some life into what is otherwise a pretty quiet section of the forum.

Cheers!

I see the oft rumoured XBox All Access things has went live over in Yankeeland...

Get a new Xbox One console, over 100 games with Xbox Game Pass, and online multiplayer with Xbox Live Gold—all with no upfront cost and one low monthly price for 24 months.
$34.99 a month for an X and $21.99 for an S.

At current exchange rates and assuming you bought Gold subscriptions on an annual basis for £35 each, you're paying about £100-£120 over the usual price for an X, and missing out on any bundled games you might normally pick up when buying a package up front. I've seen the X bundled with a few games going for less than the £450 base retail price lately too.

Perhaps it's a good deal for some who really can't afford to save up and buy one up front. But I'll never understand the logic behind getting something sooner when you can't fully afford it and then ultimately paying over what you would have done by the end of the contract anyway.

It's the Brighthouse approach. :)

From their site it says you choose a bundle not just the console on it's own.

For the Xbox One S if you price it up in the US based on stock prices for Live and Game Pass on Amazon it comes to $646 which works out at $26.9 a month. So you are saving based off that.

Wait, is Game Pass a separate subscription? I calculated it on the basis that everything was part of the Gold sub.

As much as I like the look of the Elite controller in white, I have to wonder when the launch of a controller in a new colour (and calling it a colour in this case is a bit of a stretch) became a news story.

Picked up a first gen XBOne for £100 to see what i've been missing out on. I also had a hankering to play Bad Fur Day again and found that a XBO console and the Rare Collection works out cheaper than a N64 + RAM pack and original Bad Fur Day game cart. Madness!
Talk about being super late to the party! I'm loving the Forza Horizon games, it covers my synthwave playlist & driving itch to the max. Shame I will be missing out on the Storm Island DLC, although it would be nice to see it go on sale again before it's de-listed.

I wonder if its best to give Horizon 3 a go, or just pass straight on to Horizon 4?

Btw this second hand console has a massive list of playable downloadable games tied to it's previous owner still available to me, even though I gave the console a factory reset. Is that normal?

That sounds a bit odd, any games the previous owner had should be tied to their account. The reset may not have fully happened.....but free games :D

Upgraded to Xbox X myself a few weeks ago. So much smaller and quieter than the giant brick I had before. Just need a 4K tv now.

Two additions to the backwards compatible library. Rumble Roses XX and the Zone of the Enders HD collection.

Maybe the MGS HD collection will get some backwards compatibility next? Hmmmmm?

Just in time to nab before de-listed for good!
