RIP anyone who was using PSNow only on PC as that subscription has just increased massively.

Whole thing was pretty underwhelming but it doesn't seem to be something that is pitched to induce new subscribers, more a way to get extra money out of people who are already PSPlus subscribers.

If buying a year it’s not bad at 7 or 8.30 a month and probably less through resellers. It’s much cheaper than gamepass + live if not using one of the many cheap workarounds. It’s not awful I guess. Still not a fan of subscription services so it’s not for me.

PC GamePass is £8 a month is it not so it's not much cheaper and PC GamePass is a much better deal in general. Mostly it just sucks that people who were using the service have to pay more for no real gain.

That's for the Ultimate Service I believe. It gives you access to Xbox titles and let's you stream Xbox exclusives over the PC client. Basic PC Game Pass only gives you access to a set list of PC titles and is a few quid cheaper.

You can’t really selectively just compare it to pc though, it’s a console service. Everything’s cheaper on pc especially since there’s no gold/plus on there.

It's not a selective comparison, this was in direction comparison to the price increase for anyone who was using PSNow just on PC.

I don't think there is an argument to be made that this is of similar value to Game Pass though no matter how you slice it but ultimately for Sony it's not meant to be, it's just about getting subscribers to pay more.

Or pay less since I’m sure console is far larger a base of users than PC folk that was a shite streaming experience…. I’d assume.

Anyway, any Now subs convert to the top tier sub in June so if this is something that tickles you you could top up your Now sub for a few years before then. I think it’s 40quid for a year but if you find cheaper cards around key sites. Cannie be arsed myself :p

Additionally if you want to upgrade from the Essential tier Sony will charge you for every month you are subscribed to the service at once. So if you have two years PSPlus left you will have to pay the upgrade for the full two years.

Coming off the back of the PSNow vouchers being deactivated Sony appears to be trying as hard as possible to screw up this launch.

Sony have backtracked claiming it was a technical error. ¬_¬

Just bought a Dualsense to use with PC and I think I hate this controller. It feels kind of fatiguing to use and not just the triggers but the tapered wings make it feel like its trying to escape my hand where the DS4 would just cuddle in. The adaptive triggers too, I can see it working in a slow paced bow game but my fingers felt like I had pulled a muscle after 5mins in Siege! Thankfully the triggers are optional but it just doesn't feel comfy to me. Kind of wish they'd went the MS way and just went "fuck it, we didnt bother making a new controller or UI". Make its a get used to thing but I think I'll be going back to the DS4.

Oh and the player number light under the touchpad is proper ugly. :/

I've found all past PS controllers to be uncomfy and ill-suited to my slab-hands, but I prefer the Dualsense to the Xbox controller (of which I think I've used every iteration). It sits nicely in my hands, has just the right level of button and stick resistance and the shoulder buttons are placed so much better than on an Xbox pad. The only thing I don't like is the tiny menu button to the right of the touchpad.

I've not tried many games that actually use the adaptive triggers. They're an interesting concept but I've yet to see anything to convince me they're more than a gimmick.

By State of Play standards the show last night was pretty good, although all the big games they announced I have no interest in. I'm reaching the point where I don't think I will be buying a PS5 at any point this generation. What with the lack of interesting exclusives and Sony's move to bring more of their games to PC there isn't really a need to get one when I already have a Series X for console games.
