I think the day COD games start appearing on Gamepass I might be interested, but I really don't see me spending any money on them.

Grand, although it's a week late (the game launched September 14th 2021, the exclusivity deal was believed to be one year). I'll likely be trying that one.

A couple years back me and some friends were really into the current CoD, getting gold guns and playing together all the time.
Then the next one came out and was so monumentally buggy that it completely destroyed all possible fun. Crashing out mid-PvE game and not being able to rejoin, or rejoining with zero levelling is so demoralising (and it happened basically every time we played), that we just… stopped playing CoD at all. Not to mention there were massive regressions in UI features and yet more bugs that made it actively harder to do everyday things.
We probably won't be buying another one any time soon, if ever.

I have not bought one since the first Modern Warfare I don't think (the third one, with the airport shooty bit at the start). Adversarial shooters are of zero interest.
