I stuck my £4 down, but just in case at this stage, I want to read some reviews before I properly pony up.

I've also reserved one against my better judgement (the £549 model - if I'm going in, I'm going full beans). I really like the concept despite all the questions and concerns that remain.

I'm holding off for now. I do really like the concept, but there are too many unknowns for me to leap in headfirst. Do we know how much the dock is going to cost? That's an essential part of the Switch experience for me, and honestly I think the implementation is a bit awkward - from what I can tell you have to sit the device in the dock, and then plug a USB cable from the dock into the top of the Deck. The Switch just has a USB-C port on the bottom so that it connects as soon as you put the device into the cradle. I know that inserting a cable is pretty minor as far as issues go, but it feels like something that might be corrected in a version 2.

I think for the time being I'm going to look into buying one of those small form factor PCs for the living room. I haven't done any research yet so have no idea what prices will be like in comparison, but I'm unlikely to need discrete GPU performance for what I want it for.

It should work with any usb-c dock, so I’m not overly concerned about the official offering. Ultimately if I lose the £4 deposit, it’s not the end of the world, but if it turns out to be an incredible product then I want the option to buy it early next year.

Its the control factor for some games that is simply squaring the circle. For example playing Total War on this will be next to impossible, but playing an adventure game like Tomb Raider or Mafia or Max Payne, it should be great fun. I am terrible on controllers for FPS. So I would be using this primarly for indie platformers, adventure games, pinball and racing games.

I keep wondering what the catch is, yet each revelation so far is something positive. I’m increasingly glad I claimed my reservation.

I changed my mind, I too reserved 512 GB version. Lets see if I change my mind when they roll out this time next year.

Is there a way of hiding/removing all the anime and furry sex games being released on Steam from the new releases list? I browse that most days to see if anything interesting has come out, and no interest in ever playing anything like that!

Your store list is populated based on your past purchases, unlucky.

-_-

Never bought or played anything of that ilk so idk

It's the new and trending list you have to scroll down a bit to see btw, not the rolling 'featured and recommended' games at the top (which seem more tailored to my preferences)

Edit: Nvm, found some tickboxes in account settings that seems to have done the trick.

If you go to the store homepage and click the top banner icon which says 'Your Store' and then Preferences you can untick boxes for various types of mature content. Not sure how much that will effect you seeing non-Furry/porn games that just happen to have some nudity in though (for instance you might find things like Witcher 3 disappear along with all the anime smut).

I wish there was just a preference for non-hentai stuff. Maybe try using the Tags to Exclude section and put in some of the more specific ones that those titles have.

Yeah, I'm presuming in the past sometime I've decided it's better to see everything so as not to miss anything I might be interested in, but the store just seems to be more and more inundated to the point where these games are getting in the way. I'll have a look at those settings and see if it's more granular than the main account settings one.

Edit: it's the same page  I've gone with removing the adult games but leaving mature-rated ones (which include gore etc), so no doubt some will still slip the net but hopefully it's better.

I learned this the hard way with Amazon. A few years ago my niece wanted a Beauty and the Beast toy for her birthday. Needless to say, searching for “beast doll” resulted in some truly disturbing recommendations.
