I honestly do feel very bad for those involved and wish them all luck. What do you chaps think of this? Was the game just too much of a mixed pot conception wise?
I'm sure the soft re-release of Overwatch may not have helped matters much either.

Re: General Gaming News
I think a lot of it is down to simply the dangers of releasing a mid game into a saturated market. These types of game really need to stand out by virtue of either being excellent and/or bringing something unique to the table if they're to succeed.

Re: General Gaming News
AI's greatest threat to humanity is the sheer amount of time, money and finite resources that was wasted on it. I dread to think how many people's pension funds have been raided for this shit. I'm sure in the long run something useful will come out of it but its hardly worth it.
Re: General Gaming News
A theory I've seen is that the companies buying up the stock of PC components like RAM and storage drives are intentionally pricing regular people out of the hardware market so that they can sell them subscriptions to cloud computing systems instead. I'm not sure how much water that theory holds as the companies responsible aren't really the ones that already offer these things, but even if it's not intentional, I can absolutely see it being seen as an opportunity to do so by those that do.
Re: General Gaming News
It's weird, all the fear expressed at data and mtx/subscription models all those years ago was patently justified. Parasitism will not stop enabling and escalating parasitism, go figure.

Re: General Gaming News
Every other conspiracy theory seems to be coming true so I have no doubt thats a very likely possibility.
Re: General Gaming News
It’s an economic problem more than anything, in the sense that the world is geared around businesses making the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time as is possible, at the expense of everything else. From the perspective of AI businesses and the hardware businesses supplying them, that’s exactly what they’re doing. There is zero consideration for long term sustainability of this and the impact on the wider industry, which means at some point things are going to collapse, badly. Gaming hardware looks to be the first (or most obvious) casualty.
It urgently needs global regulation, which it won’t get. Even if it did, it would take too long to implement to mitigate the problem, as it’s evolving over weeks, not years. It’s not looking good.

Re: General Gaming News
I hope the AI bubble bursts hard. If it takes the whole stock market with it then so be it. That's probably still the least worst result compared with the future these feudal tech billionaires want to create for us.
