I'm assuming that is a character I can unlock later as I don't recall seeing any name like that on the character creation screen. I went for a pious Commissar so that I can roleplay the fanatical emperor lover, because who doesn't love utterly mental devotion to a living-corpse-throne.

Oh yeah, she's a companion, you will get her pretty soon after starting.

Crime Scene Cleaner
Played Power Wash Simulator but found it a bit tame? In this you clean up gang hits and drug deals gone wrong for a shady crime boss. Mop up the blood, collect incriminating evidence and dispose of the bodies. There's no time limit on the levels so you can take your time to find that pesky arterial spurt behind the couch. Upgrade your gear and leave that blood soaked alleyway clean enough to eat your dinner off.

There's very much a wiff of budget title about it but it's on Game Pass so worth a look.

Yeah, I've been tinkering with it as well, just the first couple of jobs so far. Seems a decent little way to kill some time.

Unfortunately there's not many opportunities to power wash phallic shapes into the blood stains.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (the campaign)

I get totally lost over the naming of this series. Did this come out in 1990 or something? Anyway, the new version (2025) is on gamepass so gave it a go.

The cinematics are amazing. They must have used mocap as the characters are so natural and lit wonderfully.

The story is ok. Usual shit, secret spec ops, gov agencies, double crosses and world hopping missions.
The missions are actually quite varied, some need stealth, some need brute force .

There are probably 2 or 3 missions that almost made me rage quit. So many insta deaths if you don't do the exact right thing in the right order with no clues.

Probably never play it again but then I do like to fire them up every now and then for a quick blast. I think I played the whole game in one sitting. Did absolutely nothing all day except play :) Not often I get a chance to do that.

Rosewater

The long-awaited sequel to one of my favourite modern point-and-click adventure games, Lamplight City.

In the game's (alt-history) setting, the American War for Independence never happened, and the British colonies are still under Crown rule. America is not even called America, but Vespuccia (the continent being named after Amerigo Vespucci's surname instead of his first name).

Whereas the first game's locale was New Bretagne, a large city on Vespuccia's eastern coast (combining aspects of London, New York and New Orleans), this one is set in a small town, Rosewater, in Vespuccia's western frontier, so has a strong Old West theme.

I played it for about twenty minutes last night and gleaned more enjoyment from it than all the games I have played for the past two years. I already know I am going to have a great time with this one.

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but in the 1997 LucasArts western FPS, Outlaws, rosewater was the product the protagonist's wife sent him to fetch for her from the store before the outlaws came and killed her.

Really enjoyed Rosewater. You may also want to check out Old Skies, Doug, another very good recent point and click.

Battlefront II (2017)

After a few days of gloriously uninterrupted enjoyment alongside beating the games concurrent player Steam count the honeymoon period is now officially over, server Hackers have returned. Now then if you aren't accustomed at all to the ongoing hacking situation I will give a brief summary as follows...

Hackers take control of Galactic Assault mode repositioning the modes AT-AT walkers that are intended to slowly approach your base while you take them down, now instead they are out of bounds on the map so that games quite literally go on forever for farming purposes.
Hackers disable player spawning completely and all players are greeted by a flying cam instead, unable to do anything other than share their confusion in the chat box.
Hackers hand pick players to directly kick from the game that ends in a random CTD. Had this happen to me last night immediately after killing a random dude with all number name though I know this is possible it could have simply been a random traditional CTD that dropped me from the match.
Hackers controlling official EA admin tasks posting horrible shit in the chat and there's no reporting as they make their name invisible on the active scoreboard.
Hackers activating certain players to be unkillable across all modes.

All of the above and more has been mass reported since 2021/2022 and here we are some three years later and openly ruining the games positive and very welcome resurgence once more. EA promised action even back then but are clearly fucking useless, so now we are stuck with a game everybody and their gran want a follow-up from and yet the way BF2 has been and continues to be so horrendously handled, it might be best to let the IP die off completely and that genuinely hurts to say because I love this game series to bits and have since 2004.
Last Record Update - 23 May 2025 – 00:53:11 UTC (5 days ago)
Do also keep in mind, there are boards completely dedicated to hacking the game such as the Unknown Cheats board with posts such as follows making it readily available to anyone...
GALACTIC ASSAULT -

F1 = Teleport all players to position 1
U = Teleport all players to position 2

Click box 1 for: Cinematic camera (Does not trigger for you)
Click box 2 for: Teleports, killall, destroy walkers, skip objective & end round (Map dependent)

- STARFIGHTER ASSAULT -

Each key will trigger various exploits depending on the map.

These include:

- Objective skip
- Revert to previous objective
- Destroy current objective/destroy targeted ship
- End round

F1 = Trigger 1
U = Trigger 2
I = Trigger 3
H = Trigger 4

- FORCE START LOBBY -

Press H during pre-round, will force start the lobby without required minimum player count.
I just want to play the game, man. Sigh.

edit: Bombastic who pretty much spearheaded the current resurgence addresses the issues...

Building the future, and keeping the past alive - are one and the same thing.

I remember very much enjoying that when everyone was calling it a piece of shit after launch. The monetisation was garbage but it didnt actually matter that much.

I have been finally getting round to that little known indie darling Baldurs Gate 3. Surprisingly its fantastic. Great world building and really well crafted encounters that often have a smart little twist to them. I was having a lot of trouble with the fight when you find the Nightsong.....
Spoiler
Balthazar and his army of skeletons was kicking my utter arse but then I had the fight smarter not harder epiphany. When I reached him at the bottom before initiating combat and before he animated all the skeletons I stealthed around and threw all the piles of bones off the edge into the abyss, giggling like a schoolgirl. Fight starts and theres nothing for him to reanimate so it was just us vs him.... and he was still pretty hard!
Fav character so far, Malus Thorm. I very much wish he had a bigger part. Man, I'd take that dude as a companion over any of the actual ones! These days its rare I think of a game with the anticipation of getting home to play it but I'm totally doing that here! Who would have thought the chaps behind the old Divinity games would just keep churning out the best cRPGs around?
