Yup, excited for that. I may end up giving the first season a second watch before season 2 starts.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms coming out in January 2026 as a 6-part series, while House of the Dragon season 3 is coming next summer.

Less than enthused about HotD after the dire second season, but I'm excited for the adventures of Dunk and Egg. The novellas should translate to screen much better than Fire and Blood translated to House of the Dragon, mostly because they're actual self-contained stories rather than a history.

I only watched HotD Season 1. I found it very lacklustre indeed. I sat through it, yawning, the whole time wondering if and when it might become interesting. It didn't.

Season 1 was quite a slow burn, rather impressively they managed to make season 2 even less eventful. That's what happens when you try and drag a show out that is based on source material which runs probably no longer than 60 odd pages.

Actually Fire and Blood is about 700 pages*, but it's very dry and has no real narrative. It was a terrible choice to adapt to TV. I'd have much preferred the original plan of doing something with the first Long Night and how the wall was constructed, etc. Or Aegon's conquest. Or they could have remade the last season of GoT so it doesn't feel like it's taking the piss.

* Although the section covering the events of HotD is only part of that, so yeah, it is fairly limited source material.

Yeah the vast majority of that book covers events that aren't in the show, a lot of it actually precedes the show if I recall correctly.

I can't remember if I ever finished reading it or gave up with a hundred or so pages left. It was one of the most boring books I've ever read. Dunk and Egg was a nice little set of stories though, looking forward to a show based around that.

I gave up on Fire and Blood for the same reason. It came across like GRRM had written it as an excuse to do anything he could to avoid writing The Winds of Winter (while making whopping piles of cash, no doubt).

One is obviously It. Is the other The Mist?

The Mist is great, but to each their own I suppose.
