Day of the Triffids
A 6 part mini series that originally aired in 1981. I'd have been too young then, but I do remember watching it sometime as a kid. Scared the piss out of me.
Same - it must have been a repeat in the late 80s when I was very young (like 4 or 5), but I remember being scared shitless by the huge walking plants. Why on earth my parents thought it'd be suitable for me I've no idea.
On Call will not be returning for a second season on Prime Video. According to Deadline, the streaming service has canceled that police drama after one season of eight episodes.
The series from Wolf Entertainment will be shopped to other outlets, though, so viewers could see it return to the small screen at some point. Peacock is one possible home for the series.
Eriq La Salle, Lori Loughlin, Rich Ting, Troian Bellisario, and Brandon Larracuente star in the series, which follows the police officers of the Long Beach Police Department. The series focuses on a veteran female training officer (Belisario) and her rookie male ride-along (Larracuente).
Genuinely my favourite show of the year so far, please somebody pick it up.
Building the future, and keeping the past alive - are one and the same thing.
Finally finished Andor Season 2, the second half definitely made ploughing through the first half worth it lol.
Really makes me want to rewatch Rogue One as well...
Exactly what I did, rewatched season one, then two and Rogue One. Definitely reasserted its place in my mind as easily the best of anything Star Wars after the original trilogy.
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
I tried watching Invasion yesterday. Got about 5 minutes into the 3rd episode when I called quits. It's soooo fucking slow. Lots of characters get introduced but none of them are interesting. It's supposed to be about an alien invasion but seems to spend more time on a couples marriage breaking up. Looked up a few reviews and apparently the general consensus is too slow, don't waste your time.
I've only seen the first episode, but I already feel comfortable recommending The Eternaut on Netflix.
It's an Argentinian adaptation of a 1950s graphic novel about people surviving an alien invasion, which is kicked off with a deadly event that kills anyone caught outside when it hits. I've read that the graphic novel is what inspired Robert Kirkman to create The Walking Dead.
First episode was gripping, and the aliens haven't even shown up yet! I think Netflix may have knocked this one out of the park.
This is very good indeed. Ended up watching the first 3 episodes and had to stop as it was getting late. No one has a clue what's going on other than going outside will kill you in seconds. People almost immediately start to distrust each other and form small groups. Its very tense and the world goes into post apocalypse mode almost over night. Looks like it's getting another season which is great.

That's awesome, it definitely ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so good to know the story will continue!
