Fury Road is one of the best action films ever made. It's up there with Die Hard and The Raid.

I had the misfortune of watching it for the first time with someone who had seen it several times before and kept telling me what was going to happen in the next scene and how much they loved the next scene because of trivia points A, B, and C.

I hated every moment of that film and there is no chance I will ever watch it again and I hate that person now too.

On the plus side, you realised you had a toxic friend and immediately cut them out of your life forever, right?

It left me pretty cold. The plot, what there was, was paper thin it was more just 2 hours of shit blowing up, the film equivalent of a Just Cause game. I mean, very stylish, but I got to the end and thought "Really? That was the best you could come up with?". I do struggle generally with films that are style over substance though.

Same. Thought it was an impressive looking bad movie. But hayho, glad some folk get more out of it. I’m100% sure some of my favorite films would be considered bad by some of you  horses for courses!
I used to be eVoL but I got better.

Tasteless swines :x

They've announced a new film, a prequel about Furiosa. Completely different cast though.

The World's End

Easily the weakest of the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, this is still a fairly fun romp. It just doesn't have the same level of humour of Shaun or Fuzz, the setup isn't as good and the payoff had no hope of beating its predecessor. It has heart, but I just find myself agreeing with the supporting leads - I guess I just don't have the nostalgia that the film seems to rely on.

Been on a bit of a spree with the boy. watched:

Pulp Fiction: My top favourite film ever.
Robocop: Still looks pretty good today
Starship Troopers: Since we were on a Paul Verhoeven run :)

When I next have him I reckon we'll be onto Trading Places (mainly for Jamie Lee Curtis) and then The Thing (The 80's version natch)
-- To be completed at some point --

Would it be worth showing him the 1950's The Thing then blowing his mind with the 80's one?
