Given the hundreds of hours I’ve poured into CK2, this will doubtless be a day one purchase for me. I hope it’s different enough to warrant a new game without being different for the sake of it, which admittedly is a lot to ask.

Also worth pointing out that the core game of CK2 is now completely and utterly free. Anyone who hasn't... well you really should!

The Sword Of Islam add-on was also free last week and possibly still now. I booted Steam on my laptop during my leave and struggled to remember my password just to take advantage of that.

PCG quite like it - 94%

Also, didn't realise (rather had forgotten, given the thead title ) this was on Game Pass, so even though I never spent a tremendous amount of time with CK2 I'll definitely give this a go once I've finished with Wasteland 3.

If it's half as good as CK2, it's worth persevering with the initially terrifying amount of things to learn. It's arguably fine to not know what the hell is going on for a while, because failure is almost assumed in the game and is usually just as fun and interesting as success. Once you start to understand the various systems bit by bit, you can then start manipulating things in your favour and you start to realise exactly how cunning and strategic it can allow you to be. The first time you inherit a kingdom (or even an empire) because you engineered a series of marriages, murders, bribes and legal reforms... it doesn't get more rewarding than that in a game!

I was watching some of this being played yesterday and it looks like they have added a lot of UI improvements that should allow people to more easily get a grasp of what is going on. It also looks like they have added a lot of interesting stuff and I can't wait to play it tonight.

Was a bit marked with the late unlock time. Will have a crack at it tomorrow.

Managed to get a couple of hours in. First impression is that it's very much CK2 but better. The single biggest improvement is that intrigue has been overhauled and now allows you to find or create 'hooks' on people - i.e. some leverage against them, like a dirty secret or a favour - that you can call in to convince or coerce them into doing various things. That's the sort of improvement that makes it as complex but not as complicated as CK2, if that makes sense. It has the same (maybe more) depth but less hassle.

I also noted that I had an option to seduce the Pope. Not sure if his Pope hat had been cleaned or if he was just pleased to see me.
