Anyone tried it over 5G? I don’t have a 5G device yet but I’m curious. Might push me towards and upgrade.

In home experience for me GeForce is better for latency but a controller does cover up most of the lag on Xbox so it works! Also could just be server proximity, it’s hard to fairly judge them.

I've only tried it wired up at home. But I imagine it works just fine over 5G, as when I ran a speed test on my 5G phone a while back it was recording results pretty far in excess of both my home download and upload speeds.

Having slower home internet than my phone gets in Cafe Nero is still a sore point. -_-

Yeah but on 4g I have 60+meg down, 2up which on paper would be more than enough but there’s way more lag there which 5G allegedly solves.

Man, I’ve been super happy with my XS and have felt no urge to upgrade it till this moment when I have this idea of tethering my tablet at work to play stuff even though I know in my heart I never would bother to. But what if…..

I've used xCloud on my phone a bit and there is noticeable lag at times, at the same time I also managed to play a short session of Killer Instinct without any issues.

I wonder if that’s tower proximity or 5G not being quite the miracle it’s touted as. I’ve never actually thought “man this 4g is slow” so might just run the XS for another year or two and save a few pennies. :-k

Now that we have all been vaccinated, 5G is exposed as the lie that it is!

The problem I have with all the 5G touting is that we never even got good coverage on 4G before they gave up and started rolling out 5G! Same with 3G -> 4G before it and I bet the same with 5 to 6. They're always jogging and moving the finish line.

Thats interesting because I thought I was just going nuts when everyone was saying how lag free XCloud was. I thought PSNow would have came out a bit worse. That Nvidia stuff is really impressive, its the only time Ive thought I could actually play a mouse aiming game over cloud.

Of the three times I played on xCloud it was a 720p slow latency disappointment. It is still miles better than the PS4 PSNow experience of playing PS3 games - holy shit it is such a shoggy service. The PC version of PSNow is so much superior.

I'm not sure how useful these types of round-ups are as peoples experiences seem to vary so wildly. I suppose they can point out really bad services but the best thing to do is just try each service yourself.

Yeah, each one's performance will vary wildly based on where you are and where their POPs are, literally the only way to tell how it'll work on your connection and setup is to try it.

I probably won't bother. I've got a decent-enough PC and a nice monitor, I'd much prefer higher fidelity visuals.

It's increasingly winding me up how bad the PC app for this is. Tried playing The Ascent in coop last night and just could not get a lobby going at all despite nearly two hours of troubleshooting it.

The Xbox game bar social interaction side never seems to link up with the actual Xbox app properly and both are constantly plagued with crashing.

It really seems that whenever you want to play a Game Pass game online with friends you're probably looking at 50/50 odds of it just not working at all. The choice on offer in the catalogue is great, but what's the point if half the multiplayer titles don't function properly.
