There will no be no Assassin's Creed game next year according to Yves...

"On Assassin's, we had a game [in 2018] and we have one this year, but we are not going to have a full-fledged Assassin's next year," said Guillemot. "It's just because the team were working separately, so we have two games now, one year after the other. But next year you're not going to have a fully fledged one."

Asked whether this meant there would be a spin-off title or something smaller instead of a brand new, fully fledged entry in the Assassin's Creed series, Guillemot confirmed that this would not be the case either.

"What you'll have is lots of content coming on [Assassin's Creed Odyssey]. The team really want to give, on a regular basis, some new possibilities for play, so when you get [Odyssey] this year, you're going to get in for a couple of years, actually."

I'll try desperately to hide my utter rejection at this news.

<Not a fan>

So... lots of paid DLC, then? -_-

There would have been lots of paid DLC anyway.

It seems that they're sticking to the development plan of not having one team trying to turn around a game every two years on a rotating schedule, which I think is a good thing. That approach has slowly killed everything that was remotely appealing about CoD.

I still haven't felt tempted to pick up any new AC games, but apparently the break before Origins came out did the series a world of good in most peoples eyes.

If you see Origins on the cheap I'd give it a go, it's pretty fun and a bit different from the usual fare.

Yeah Origins is easily one of my favourite games of late.

Origins was really good and I've been very encouraged by Odyssey as it sounds like they are building on all the good things they did in Origins.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018 ... ation-mode

New 'exploration mode' requires the player to investigate the world to discover quests and objectives, or 'Breath of the Wild' mode as EG has dubbed it.

That sounds like a much better way to play to me. Death by mini map icon is one of the most hated things about open world games and AC has always been the absolute worst for it.

I have picked this up on the strength of the reviews and how much I enjoyed Origins, although in fairness I am a big fan of the AssCreed titles anyway so picking this up was not too much of a decision.

Will let you know thoughts post-Friday!

I went to pick this up yesterday and in the time it took to click on the item and put it in my basket it had gone up £3. :( I can't bring myself to pay over £40 for a game.

How about a paltry £75?

I paid a smidge over £40 on Uplay using one of their '100 coins for 20% off' codes.

I very rarely spend that much on a game, and considering how hard I have fallen for CK2 recently (I finally managed to get my head around it. No, scratch that, I finally managed to understand the very basics) I did umm and ahh before committing, but on the pint scale that all purchases must be measured by, I will get my money's worth.
