Some red hot burning news right out of QuakeCon in a move that I'm sure comes as no surprise to anyone. Quake Champions is now free to play...

Of course you're free to not play if you'd prefer.

What's wrong with it? Saw it had mixed reviews on Steam too.

I think the general consensus is it's not Quake 3.
Not that I'd know of course, I cant even be bothered trying it when its free.

Last time I tried it was the beta and the guns all suffered some sort of lag/delay when pressing fire on any of the weapons. Not really a fan of the models having abilities like Visions wallhack either. I did it grab it when it was free but still not really felt a need to try it out again.
Mr Annoyed and Proud of it.

The class system is terrible, it feels tacked on and completely unnecessary, added because they didn't feel confident enough to make a straight arena shooter. The shooting is OK, but feels low on impact. The only thing it really gets right is the speed. If you really want to play some Quake there are better ways to do it and if you want to play an online shooter there are much better ones out there.
Oh also hardly anyone was playing it when I last played and you often ended up in a game with bots, which are awful, which ruined the whole experience.
