They should introduce tiers. Like a fiver gets you 30 ad free videos, tenner for 100 and whatever it is now for unlimited. For all I watch I’d drop a fiver on it but no more. Or if they rolled in their music sub for 15 but even their music sub is 3quid more than Spotify and it’s a bit shit albeit with one nice video feature.

The funniest bit about their subs is that if you sign up for premium via a browser then it's £11.99 a month, but if you do it through the app (at least on iOS) then it's £15.99 a month. Literally no difference and it applies across all platforms. It's nothing but a big fuck you to Apple users.

Isn't that because Apple want a cut of any subscription service that people buy through their devices? It forces YouTube to put their price up if they want the same profit they'd normally make.

It's the same reason why Netflix only let's you subscribe through a browser rather than their mobile app, they don't want to have to charge people extra to give the mobile platform their cut.

Whatever the reason, it's beyond stupid that you could just open a browser and pay £4 a month less for the same thing.

And that's the story of why I'm not allowed near pregnant women for the next few weeks.

Things that are probably legit but have all the hallmarks of being a scam.

Just had a weird exchange with a guy going door to door selling teabags (I forget which company, but he steamed in with some yarn about them being established centuries ago and how I may have seen their van driving about, which I haven't). After him shitting all over Yorkshire Tea, which is my usual brew, he offered me a sample of 100 of his teabags for £3.60. Fair enough, I thought, and went to get some cash, but no no no! I couldn't have the teabags he had with him right there - that would be silly! No, someone called John will turn up next Thursday with my teabags and I can pay then by cash or card (there's no chance a card is going anywhere near John). I made it abundantly clear that I'd be in the house at all hours every day, so John can turn up whenever he wants.

He then asked for my name, so I gave him a random name (Jeff). He asked for a surname, so I asked why he needed a surname, also pointing out that data protection is a substantial part of my work and that it seemed strange that a surname would be required for a simple transaction of teabags for £3.60 in cash. It turned out he didn't need a surname.

I look forward to John bringing me my scam tea next week.

It wasn't Ringtons was it? My mother used to buy from them decades ago, and I find it bizarre that door-to-door tea sales are still a thing that happens, but I do see their vans around every so often still.

Also, please answer the door with a "Oh hullo there!" in the Gazer/Observer Jeff voice.

I don’t think I’d buy anything to put inside myself from a strange man at the door :-k

It could well have been. It probably was legit, but the guy seemed oblivious to the fact that giving personal details to buy some tea a week later from a guy at the door is a bit odd.

Its a bit of a strain but Coffee Annan could play the antagonist.
