Fair enough - I'm going by the humidity meter in my house, which is at an all-time low, but that's likely just because there's been so little rain in the last month.

Luckily the new 100ft hose with spray gun for the rear tap came today.

One of these years I'm going to cave and buy an overpriced air con unit that I don't have room for.
My parents got me one as a birthday present years ago, and the same unit is still going strong. We've not busted it out of its cupboard just yet, but it is an absolute godsend when you need it. Noisy yes, but when you can't sleep because it's too hot it's the better of two evils.

[…] you have to faff around with the exhaust covering for the window. I've got very old windows that open outwards and I'm not sure there's any covering that would be compatible with them
Not sure what kind of window you mean, but for what I'd consider the "normal" ones around the UK one of these should keep the hot air outside.

I've been told off for the shorts. In fairness they definitely don't fit the dress code
Scour the dress code, and wear a perfectly-conforming skirt or kilt. Or at least offer to do so, they might then realise what a fucking helmet they're being (worked for me in one work place that was trying on the "no shorts" bullshit). Worth a go!
the medication I'm on makes me sweat more
Sounds like you could argue for a medical exemption if you don't fancy the above.

And that's the story of why I'm not allowed near pregnant women for the next few weeks.

Reckon a skirt would be awesome on days like these, every breeze giving much-needed relief to the old egg-bag...

Not sure I am gonna try it, but hypothetically...

I'm in favour of a Kaftan, but my other half has vetoed this. Probably for the best.

Current temp in my off is now 29.1°c - it's been a loooong day. Humidity is ony 44% though. It does sap all your energy over the day. I went out for a walk at lunchtime and that was lovely but it took an hour to get over the effort once I got back. I now feel like I've been hit over the head.

I'm really enjoying the weather at the moment. Took a trip down to Brighton over the weekend and it was glorious. Bit sweaty having to go into the office like this but it isn't too bad.

Thankfully there is no dress code for my job here in SG so I just wear shorts and t-shirt all of the time. Also working from home at the moment so it wouldn't matter anyway.

I did once try and go to work in short and chinos but they were very quickly soaked from a short walk outside. I don't know how some people here do it. You even see people in jumpers sometimes when the temp is below 25C at night in the rainy season.

All the rain fell here at about 5am, was pretty spectacular. Can already tell it's going to be a muggy, humid bastard of a day once it heats up.

Back in my early days at this job (2009ish), we had one of those people in our team who puts every rule to the test. These days there's no dress code for the office but back then it was smart casual, as in shirt and smart trousers, so eyebrows were raised when Mr Testy came in wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Hawaiian shorts. If it had been anyone else wearing plain shorts, it probably wouldn't have been an issue given the heat, but our boss was looking for any excuse to give him a royal (and almost literal) dressing down, and so it resulted in all shorts being outright banned from the office.

I think it was a decade or so later when we'd changed bosses and a new hire came in wearing shorts and nobody made a fuss, and common sense prevailed again.

Hah, thankfully it's academia so no-one cares as long as you're not working in the lab. And even there it's not really a proper wet lab, so people do it anyway even though they're not supposed to...

You know it is much needed time when the pool finally comes out after several years.

Not to brag or anything, but I recently moved into an apartment complex here that has two large 50m pools and a few smaller ones. I get to go for a nice swim every afternoon as a break when I'm working at home. Looks like this:
