You may be interested that right now Lou Rudd is 16 days into his unsupported and unassisted, solo crossing of Antarctica. His expedition has never been completed before, it covers 1500 km, will take about 70 days and he is travelling from Messner to the South Pole then to the Ross Ice Shelf.

You can follow his expedition live HERE, including a daily journal. Astonishing mission, both physically and mentally.

Cheers for this. Sounds absolutely brutal. The idea for walking for long periods of time in that kind of weather actually makes me feel a little ill, so lord knows how unimaginably draining it would be to do it.

Not for me personally.

God bless the barmy ones that have no sense of self-preservation.
Very impressive feat to undertake though, fair dues to him.
