Despite the warnings, search trends from Google show that terms like ‘retina damage’, ‘eyes hurt’, ‘can’t see’, ‘blind’ and ‘eye damage’ all spiked in the hours after the eclipse.
Medical science / NASA / common sense: "Don't look directly at the eclipse without proper protection or you'll likely cause permanent damage to your sight."
Christ, people were joking about it being a dangerous world for Boeing whistleblowers after the first alleged suicide, and it's actually happened? Is it just the case that there are so many whistleblowers because there are so many problems at the company, and this is actually just a reasonable mortality rate?

There have been seven Boeing whistleblowers since 2019, so two of them dying in the space of the month is... uh... totally normal. Nothing to see here!
I remember watching Game of Thrones thinking that all the characters who dismissed the idea that the white walkers ever existed were all nuts, because clearly something happened in the past which caused people to build a 700ft wall across an entire continent. It's not like they did it for a laugh.
And yet here we are. It turns out in reality it doesn't take an invasion of the undead, just a bunch of Saudi princes Scrooge McDucking into piles of cash that they don't know what to do with. And shooting people to clear the way.
I know people tend to think they're living in the worst time in history, which clearly isn't true for most of us, but I do think we're living in the bloody weirdest time in history.
