Biden's speech was decent, but the poet laureate's, Amanda Gorman, whose speech followed was really powerful.

I remember sitting listening to Trump's inauguration address four years ago, knowing that the bile and inward-thinking he was spouting was only going to be temporary, but my god it's nice to be hearing a president talking of hope again.

This may be exposing me as an ignorant old man but is a speech a poem? It was very well writen but I dont see a great deal of difference if any between a powerful speech and that poem from that lass.

Given some of the utter shite I've seen in the name of "art", and some of the crap I've read as "poetry", I think anything can be either if you just tell people it is.

The shit that went on in that building over the past 4 years will no doubt make for some fascinating/cringe documentaries in the near future. Bet he had a McDonald's button in the bathroom.

I can only imagine how many times that the phrase "He did what?!" is exclaimed in that building by Biden per day.

It does go without saying that for myself and every friend I've talked to here so far, we are beyond relieved the last three days. Just watching our new White House Press Secretary speak without lying and calling people names then storming out of the room is refreshing. I also enjoy listening to President Biden speaking in hushed, comforting tones, knowing that behind the scenes he's firing all these trump toadies with extreme prejudice.
