It was a civil corporate case, so money was always going to be the prime cause, rather than the truth for truth's sake. The frustrating thing is that Fox has to make no reparations, and can claim tax back against part of the settlement. Smartmatic is next, it remains to be seen how far that goes. Fox makes billions in any 3-month period, so 3/4 billion is a get-out.

They still have the other more substantial Smartmatic lawsuit to contend with which could well go to trial unlike Dominion, and of course they have both Carlson and Hannity firmly lodged on board. Fox could end up seriously crippled in the long run so casting off the most consistent stolen election gratifiers was bound to happen and I don't think Murdoch is done quite yet although by this point its a culture they cannot really divert from, even so there's far too much hanging in the balance to continue as they did.

Trump's deposition video for the E. Jean Carroll rape case has been released.



Even for Trump, it's astonishingly bad. Some bewildering moments include:

- Trump's claim that Carroll testified she enjoyed being raped.

- A written statement from Trump is examined where he describe's Carroll's claims as him "swooning" on her. After he proudly confirms that he wrote the whole thing all by himself, he explains that he (incorrectly) used "swoon" instead of "fucked" because it would have been politically incorrect. He then proceeds to call Carroll a "nut job".

- Trump restates that Carroll is not his type. He's then shown a photo of a woman which he recognises as his ex-wife. It is in fact Carroll.

- Trump is shown his infamous "grab 'em by the pussy" video, which he stands by.

- Just in case there was any doubt, Trump assures Carroll's female lawyer that she's not his type either and that there is no circumstance in which he would find her attractive.
