I've found a couple of new brushes from a pack I got a while ago that I really like which make it easier to do more natural feeling brush pen shading like that. It's just a long process playing with the values and doing things on lots of different layers so each bit is easy to tweak in isolation.

I went in a somewhat... different direction for Day 11: Wander.



I've been a little more whimsical this year. Lots of cute fuzzy things doing human stuff. Why don't I balance that out with the most miserable possible idea I could come up with for a topic with such wondrous possibilities? Honestly I gave up after laying the groundwork because it was such a depressing concept. Besides the obvious VR helmet, the pipes connected to his arm and leg were supposed to be muscle stimulants to give the effects of exercise.

It's fucking grim.

My daughter is working on a large piece, 5 foot on the long side. You can see how she develops the layers and designs.

I'm tagging this with spoilers because there's frontal nudity - it's basically several succubi, hanging out together. She's pursuing what she's calling a "desecrated religious" theme.

Super proud of her use of color, strokes, and general style now. She's really coming into her own.

Wasn't particularly inspired by the prompt again today (there seem to be a lot of nouns this year where it feels difficult to come up with something that isn't the obvious), so did what I've done before and treated it as a name. I am absolutely not a mecha artist, but I am a fan. I'm fairly happy with how this turned out despite not going through any sort of pose or construction phase, just drawing shapes. The feet are a bit rubbish, and I ran out of time when it came to the hands (hence the lack thereof), but I think it's passable.
