2021
Re: 2021
17 days, no drink. To be honest, I've only really been properly tempted once, which was yesterday. Starting to bring in more exercise now too, going to try and continue hitting 10k steps and start doing some form of morning workout too.
I don't plan on making this a permanent change, but I don't think with how hectic work is currently, that drinking must've been impeding me so much.

Nice one! Still probably making a difference, maybe it'll take a bit longer to see it. You're trying to lose weight, right? I have always found that if you are consistent there is a kind of lull/plateau after a week or so (retained water) that a couple of weeks later starts to fall off very quickly. Currently hoping I'm in that part stillTommy wrote: βSun Jan 17, 2021 2:29 pm17 days, no drink. To be honest, I've only really been properly tempted once, which was yesterday. Thanks
Was just reading about the dry Januaries people are doing, I'm currently on day 58. If you started at the start of January, you can expect things to keep getting better. Sleep is amazing now, and I think that it is improving my mood greatly.

I've been doing Wet January... I was basically teetotal last year as I never really drink at home, only doing so when out with friends (which for obvious reasons there was not a lot of in 2020!), but we got a nice bottle of red wine and bottle of Tia Maria for Xmas, which I've been working my way through in the evenings to recover from home-schooling the children

Re: 2021
Yeah, same if I'm honest. I never want more than one or two drinks, but it's definitely a more frequent occurrence than throughout most of last year. Must be these cold winter nights.
I did a dry couple of months a few years ago due to some meds I was on, and I was pleased to find I didn't miss alcohol at all. I didn't feel much benefit with sleep either, which I took as a good sign that I wasn't drinking enough to generally affect my sleep in the first place. I do find that if I have more than a couple of drinks these days then I'll be wide awake at 5am though, which I think is just a fact of being in my mid-thirties.

If I last until May I'll be on day 3285
Can't say I miss it all that much, there's always alcohol-free if I want the taste.

Re: 2021
Weight-loss has taken a back seat as work has gotten completely manic and will be up until the budget (and slightly after), but yes that's the aim. I suspect cutting drink out and walking a bit more will have stripped a little bit but I haven't been tracking it too much. I'll be happy enough if I continue the no-drinking thing throughout lockdown and just keep getting out as often as possible, then hopefully gyms open and I'll start dedicating myself to that.Pew-Pew wrote: βMon Jan 18, 2021 9:59 amNice one!
