Yeah, but it's not the government's money for the most part. Space X has developed the majority of the technology, and the price per seat is supposedly $80million, so putting two men up there is about the same cost as The F-22 Raptor that poor training caused the crash of a few weeks back.

And sod talking about space exploration in terms of priorities. Feed the people by spending marginally less on defence, don't cut the science.
