Yeah sad to read that. The royals overall may be imploding at the moment but the Queen and Prince Philip have both given almost their whole lives in service to the country and I respect that.

Some might think it's fast and loose with celeb but in terms of reality TV, she's probably been one of the more influential people, especially in the twitter, Vine, short-clip era.

Anyone else watching the funeral? Iβve got it on in the background so I can watch Prince Andrew evade the FBI on live national TV, and also to enjoy Huw Edwards desperately treading the BBCβs fawning stance of βhe wasnβt only a racistβ.

I put it on very briefly, Huw Edwards was talking about how the royal guards marching in their armoured boots was indicative of the "Duke's attention to detail" (rather than being indicative of, y'know, them dressing properly) and I realised it was just going to be hours of sycophantic discussion of over-the-top pageantry that has very little to do with the man in question, and promptly turned it off in favour of a Dark Souls Let's Play which I suspect is probably a more accurate depiction of the inner workings of the Royal Family.

That's an accurate assessment. I'll admit to bursting out with laughter when one of the commentators claimed the the entire commonwealth was 'heartbroken'.

I heard 5 mins of it and learned that he was the first ever environmentalist in the UK and the first ever proponent of organic food in the UK.

Alright, I don't approve of the media circus (or the Royals in general really), but this is going to be my memory of the day; an old woman mourning her husband of 76 years alone.
