That was my instinct too. So Gibnar can fling open the door, but we won't know what's behind it until everyone else is in position.

Yep, that's my understanding of the rules. It's the same reason we didn't reveal the new corridors once Gibnar had moved their first.
EDIT: Page 18 confirms it. Opened doors are sorted out in the exploration phase. But opening chests, searching for traps/doors is resolved in the hero phase as it happens.

Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
Sorry fellas, I missed that it was my turn! I will go open that door as suggested!
Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
I'll walk up to the tile to the north of Gibby.
Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
I'll take the tile south of Gibby.

And I'll go two east and three north so that I'm stood next to Paulox.

Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
Thank you all.
Here's what happens: you move into position behind the door, and Gibnar kicks it open. You find...
...an empty room! With a door in the back of it.
Suddenly, there's a clicking sound. Terence the Insane has just stepped on a switch. Quickly Terence, roll a d12!

You fail to spot the trap before it's too late!
A crossbow bolt shoots out of a hole in the wall and penetrates Terence.
Critical hit! You lose 2 Wounds, with 1 remaining. ¬_¬
Do you wish to use one of your valuable FATE POINTS to undo this unfortunate event?

Very good. Terence has a painful vision of the near future and carefully avoids stepping on the trap switch.
And we're back to the HERO PHASE.
What do you guys do next?

Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
Can we search for hidden treasure or traps in the empty room?
I think we should do one or both of those while going across to the opposite door.

You can search for hidden treasure if you are: 1. In the room. 2. Don't move while in the room. So, you'll need to wait until the next Hero Phase.
There are no pre-laid traps in this game, so no need to search for them.

Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
Therre's only a slim chance of finding better gear in empty rooms, it'll either be coins or nothing. Plus there's a chance of something bad happening.
I wonder if we need to bother with coins, since they're only useful between quests for buying new gear - and I'm not sure yet whether we're going to be doing all that stuff.
I'd recommend sticking to looting dead monsters and treasure chests.
