Yah, I said this was coming, the day trump was elected in 2016. There'd be lots of circus acts and idiocy to feed the media and the masses while in the meantime judge vacancies across the country would be quietly filled with Republican turds and our Supreme Court would be stacked against liberalism for decades to come - and Roe v. The fact that there's a huge amount of people in the US horrified and apposed to the ruling means it's not the end yet mate and it's still got good people. What more bemusing is the fact we have Putin literally threatening to wipe all human life off the planet and the Republicans still won't condemn the Edwin. That's a rather bizarre pro life stance.

The speed and concerted conservative voices calling it "insurrection" and McConnell shamelessly calling it an attack by the reactionary left on the independence of SCOTUS, after his partisan behaviour, points further to this. The other thoughts are that there will be considerable "concessions" in the final judgement, such as with rape and ectopic pregnancy, and this release provides the sting with which they can show "leniency" later.

Of course, it all stinks. A woman has the right to determine her path through life and how to manage her own health, and not have it decided by zealotry and fervour, with ridiculous talk of "dismembering babies" and "murdering children". Humanity really is at a precipice, and its entire history should not have led us here, what have we learned exactly? Psychopaths never end well.

In Trump's case it's because he simply doesn't care. There's no surprise there.

When it comes to the other NRA types, I assume there's real cognitive dissonance there. Those kids were killed because there weren't any good guys with guns, not because the bad guy had one. They'll see events like this as a need to push their pro-gun agenda. This would never have happened had those teachers and children also been armed.

I sorta hope that I'm just being cynical, but I just can't see how these people can hold events like this just days after an atrocity that they're at least tangentially responsible for.

I doubt that concept has been affected at all. Nobody outside of NRA types ever believed it in the first place, and now said NRA types will just explain it away by saying the police weren't doing their jobs right (although in fairness that does appear to be absolutely true) and should have put more ammo down range.
