Given that ARRO, the current official body for investigating UAP reports, has routinely been caught lying, ignoring material witnesses who try to speak with them and obfuscating facts, I have zero confidence that any actual compelling evidence in the government's possession will be released.

For the sake of argument, if there has been a 70+ year conspiracy to suppress public knowledge of non-human intelligence interacting with us, Trump would be the perfect president for disclosure from the perspective of the conspirators, because nobody's going to believe him.

I disagree. Trump will do anything at all to deflect from the Epstein files, and the UAP stuff is about the only thing that he wouldn't personally be implicated in, and would therefore likely be telling the truth.

I don't think truth factors into it. Again, let's say the conspiracy is real - that means the people behind it have successfully suppressed it for many decades and are extremely good at covering their tracks. Why in the world (or out of it) would they allow files demonstrating what they've been hiding to get anywhere near a position where they could be released to the public? Any such evidence would presumably be heavily compartmentalised on a need-to-know basis. The result being that anything that DOES get released will be stuff they don't care about people knowing.

If there is no conspiracy, then the files will be endless reports of "it turned out it was a balloon".

Either way, Trump is clearly using it as a distraction, everyone knows it's a distraction, and information released with a motive to distract is immediately suspect.
