I've been listening to more of Hegseth and Trump's speeches from yesterday. Hegseth is an absolute wretch and his entire tirade was despicable, but Trump... good lord, WTF was that? He's known for inane waffling, I grant, but this was a whole new level. A complete stream-of-consciousness brain fart; ceaseless rambling not unlike Grandpa Simpson talking about making toast and how he used to wear an onion on his belt (which was the style at the time). On the rare moments where he briefly settled on an actual topic, it was bizarre:

At one point he told the audience of 800+ commanding officers that he likes to sign stuff with a special pen, on big, beautiful paper, not cheap paper. And somehow that transformed into a dig at Hunter Biden.

He has to have some form of dementia.

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him in so far as he efficiently serves the country. CNN, incidentally, edited that segment out of later broadcasts of that interview. I think it speaks to how well the American far-right control the media (however illegitimate that control is) that I can't tell if this is a genuine mistake or an attempt to introduce the concept into the media and move the Overton Window. We all know Trump thinks like he has it already, but this is a pretty incredible thing to be claimed, and would be, if I understand the term correctly, the final step towards making him an actual dictator.

Miller is rabid, the prime source of animus for overreach. They are desperate to exact martial law and control elections in blue states. They will turn the screws until they think they can get away with it and still keep their base on side. He is projecting intent and realised mid stream.

So lessee here; they effectively steal an extremely valuable foreign company, force it to take on a new US owner, and now that company is going to effectively be given to the 19-year-old son of the US president? No, sure, sure, that sounds totally above board.
