There is an argument for that way of life.

I guess what I meant was: if you have any opinions about politics, these days, you'll automatically have hundreds or even thousands of enemies who'll regard you as absolute scum.

An American physical media youtuber I subscribe to (who I've never seen discuss anything beyond physical media) has just posted that while he recognises everything going on in the real world, he doesn't want to drag his channel into it and so he's not going to be talking about anything like that. Which seems entirely reasonable to me. And now he's being inundated with replies from people saying they're unsubscribing because he's a coward and he needs to take a stance, blah, etc.

These people are utterly deranged. It's a Youtube channel about blu rays!

You only have to read the quotes in that Guardian piece and look up a few videos of him actually saying this stuff and it's quite clear that he was a massive racist and misogynistic piece of shit.

Do I think that shooting a political figure instead of overpowering them through discourse is wrong? Absolutely yes.
Do I think that we're better off without Charlie Kirk? Also yes.

I don't think reasonable discourse between the left and right is even possible in the US anymore, not when figureheads like Trump and underlings like Kirk having the popularity they have. Just listen to THe President of the United States 100% blaming Democrats for this murder, from behind his desk in the Oval Office on national TV, and all sorts of public figures from the Right doing likewise. They are deliberately stirring their voter base up into a fury over this, to the point where they're not just euphemistically calling for war, they're literally calling for war now. I'm sure they'll say "oh it was just a figure of speech", but their words will be interpreted as "Kill the Left.", because that is the literal meaning of the wording they're choosing. Just look at some of the quotes in the image Mark posted. "Our choice is fight or die".

How in the fuck do you stop them from killing one another?
