Political commentator Charlie Kirk shot dead "Dark day for America" Trump says in a statement while the MAGA right once again scream loudly Civil War. Trump will be highly content with the distraction and realignment of MAGA at his rear end once more calling for such exactment. The timing as always is crucial and always always plays into Trumps hands.

This is America.

I hadn't heard of Charlie Kirk before the news broke, but from what I have read I haven't a scintilla of sympathy for him. Reap what you sow.

I feel sorry for his wife and kids. Nobody should be shot on their home soil for non-violently sharing their political beliefs in a (supposedly) democratic nation.

I saw some of his debate at Oxford a couple of months ago. The man was a wretch and the Oxford students ran circles round him. And while you say he was non-violently sharing his political beliefs, he was advocating the preservation of the second amendment explicitly at the expense of people being shot as an inevitable result.

As you say, though, regardless of what nonsense someone spouts, doesn't mean they should be shot. I'm not even sure it's ironic, it's just a tragically dumb example of cause and effect.
