He had significant health issues iirc, I think he stopped acting because he lost his voice. RIP,

He had throat cancer ten or so years ago, recovered but I imagine that had a serious impact on his health. You also have to wonder whether his reluctance to seek out proper medical treatment due to his Christian Science beliefs may have played a part too.
Had so many iconic roles over the years, Iceman, Doc Holliday, Jim Morrison (my personal favourite of his roles), Madmartigan... RIP.
