It is exciting news... BUT...

(mini-rant time, I apologise in advance)

I find it incredibly frustrating that for the last few years we've been given extensive witness testimony (some under oath) and corroborating evidence that the US and likely other nations are well aware of a non-human intelligence interacting with us. David Grusch was the watershed moment for me, but others have since come forward and pushed the topic forward in ways I never expected. Just listen to Colonel Karl Nell speaking plainly about it:

And the public at large still don't think there's anything to it at all. I expect there are some eyes rolling at me talking about it here, but to those who have been following it closely in recent years it's not so much a question of "if" anymore, but "what". Joe public and mainstream science simply aren't interested though.

But then a bunch of scientists say they're pretty certain there's alien life on a planet based on some gas signatures (which by their own insistence wouldn't even constitute conclusive proof), and the public are quite happy to accept that and nod along without any substantial understanding of what that means. People of high credibility and credentials, including world-renowned scientists like Gary Nolan, have been telling us that NHI are here, not 120 light years away, not based on gas data but on actual retrieved materials, and they're not worth listening to? It's dismaying.

I trust in science - clearly that is the way to determine factual information. But the outright dismissal of overwhelmingly strong avenues of research by mainstream science and the public, primarily because that research won't get funded, is holding us back. So yes, finding strong signs of life on a distant planet is a major scientific step, but to me it feels like more of a soft confirmation of what I'm already confident is a much more local reality.

"extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"
This is the one thing Carl Sagan ever said publicly that I disagree with. Extraordinary claims require evidence - the magnificence of the evidence is irrelevant. Evidence is evidence.

For the size of the universe, I'd say it's statistically impossible that there is no other life out there. As for it visiting Earth I'm still a wee bit sceptical but am open minded about it. Earth is literally in the arse end of the Milky Way hundreds of lightyears from everything else, which is probably for the best.

Yeah that pretty much sums up my thoughts on the subject. I can't help but think that any intelligent alien civilisation would look at humanity with horror. We only know how to destroy and spend most of our efforts finding new and novel ways of destroying one another. The thought of our breaking out of our blue planet and inflicting ourselves elsewhere would be terrifying - I would imagine we would be looked at like some form of locked-away biological weapon!

As Agent Smith said in The Matrix, a virus with shoes...

It's telling that some of the most well-documented and evidenced UAP cases (i.e. those with multiple credible witnesses and corroborating data from multiple sensor platforms) are centred around nuclear facilities. There are cold war military documents and witnesses from both the US and the USSR stating that UAPs showed up and briefly activated the launch sequence for nukes, and in other cases disabled them entirely. A more recent account relayed to Congress under oath by former Navy pilot Ryan Graves involved a square, red UAP the size of a football field that appeared over Vandenberg air force base in 2003, which hosted nuclear weapons at the time. There's also a report that a test missile fired from Vandenberg in 1964 was disabled by a UAP that appeared and fired a beam of light at it.

There is far, far more evidence of a connection between UAPs and nuclear weapons; suffice it to say that while none of it taken in isolation is smoking gun proof of anything, it does form a pattern of evidence suggesting UAPs have an interest in nukes. It's quite easy to speculate some basic reasons as to why.

You are, of course, projecting human morality and/or emotion onto an alien civilisation.

They might simply regard us as a form of food, or potential slave labour (if they even think in that those terms).

Even if they're 'civilised', as we define the term, they might not have the same concepts of morality that we do at all. They might be impressed with us, admiring even, or not have an opinion at all, but merely regard us as an interesting life-form, worthy of study if nothing else.

Or perhaps they'd think of us in some other way that we cannot even conceive, imagine or understand. True aliens in every sense.

True enough, it is me thinking that intelligence only exists in one form, but then that's the only frame of reference I have. Looking at a species that is hastening its own extinction through unbridled consumption while focusing extensively on hastening the process through wars and finding anything to like still feels a stretch though.

It is true; we are destroyers, and for that reason, alien life existing elsewhere or not, it is a good thing for the rest of the cosmos that we are (at present) contained as we are.

And has now committed suicide. Poor lass, she must have been really messed up.

So sad, and often the only end for someone abused from an early age, and predated from then on. She was recruited by Epstein at 16 when she was a locker room attendant at Merde-a-Lago...but abused by a close family friend since the age of 7.

All this time and I never realised she'd worked at Mar a Lago. I knew that place had to be a cesspit, but I don't think I understood quite how much of one.

But yeah, it's desperately sad. I wonder if the monsters that do this have even the slightest bit of empathy for their victims; I can't imagine sex without the intimacy, how does that work if it's presumably only one way?

There is sex as communication and there is sex as power. These parasites do it for the control and subjugation.
