I don't really get this whole debacle, other than reading it as evidence for any number of conspiracy theories. What possible, legitimate reason is there for all of these people to be using Signal rather than some sort of internal messaging service? It can't possibly be that they just don't want to carry two phones with them, surely.

Accountability. Their chats have a time limit on them when they simply disappear. No archival allows you to get away with what the entire administration wants to get away with. SCIFs aren't only for secure viewing of classified data, they also archive all access.

That's my point; that isn't a legitimate reason. How are Congress not up in arms about this and calling for impeachment? The people responsible surely have to be providing at least some sort of reason to be doing things this blatantly corrupt, you can't possibly be able to install an insecure internet line into the middle of the sodding Pentagon without dozens of pages of reports detailing why it's necessary.

The language used does at least suggest the US' official position is that Russia invaded Ukraine, rather than Zelensky inviting that nice Mr Putin over for tea, and they simply fell out when one wanted to put the jam on the scones first rather than the clotted cream. Obviously Trump will ignore that entirely and declare the position to be whichever said the nicest things about him most recently is the wronged party.

I only read lightly into all this crap nowadays because frankly it's too bonkers and bad for your mental health to be too interested in the downward spiral of America, but I did see something about this yesterday that suggested the MAGA people in the Whitehouse were suggesting that the actual tattoos themselves are interpreted as MS-13 and the photoshopping of the characters over his knuckles was just to illustrate what each tattoo means. They aren't suggesting that the photoshopped characters are actually his tattoos.

There are circles online going absolutely ballistic about the government suggesting the photoshopped characters are real and that this shows how evil the government is. As comically evil as they have been so far I'm not sure that they would actually quite go that far.

I may be wrong and there are members of the government actually making that claim though. Either way, it seems like a bit of a stretch to me to suggest the actual tattoos on his knuckles do mean those characters.
