What I didn't quite understand was the story that Pelosi had been in touch with DoD to ensure there were controls in place to prevent him launching nuclear missiles. Seems like nonsense. How could DoD unilaterally put controls in place to control who can launch missiles . Not saying it would be a bad thing but there's surely no mechanism in place, whatsoever, to have the military control when they can launch nuclear missiles?

Yeah, I thought ordering a nuclear strike was one of the few terrifying things the President can do unilaterally as commander in chief. Whether the people tasked with launching the missile obey that order is another matter. I'd like to think that the threat of a court martial is (to most people) preferable to ending civilisation as we know it on the orders of a desperate orange buffoon thrashing about wildly, but these days who knows.
