I'll spend an ace to avoid one of those but will risk the damage with the other.
All right, re-roll one of those Grit tests with your Ace.

For the other, roll a d6 for the damage.

All right, so, that's one solid hit with a barbed wire club on Roach!

You can now choose to use your hat to ignore all the damage, or gamble on a death check!

I'm feeling reckless I'll go for the death check.

Okay, you're knocked unconscious, unless you wish to spend an Ace to re-roll that?

Right, there's two Clowns left in the room, and only Cumflutter and Cadaver Kid are there to stop them.

Doc Scotum's still outside, laughin' like a hyena (last round this occurs), but it's up to you two to put these jokers down.

Well that escalated quickly. A 12 would have been a KO while a 4 is just straight up dead? Brutal.

Well shit :(

Roll a new character when (if at this stage) we get back to town maybe?

Well, you roll on a d20 on the Death Check table, and subtract the damage you've gone below 0 HP from your roll. So, your HP is 1 and you got hit for 5 damage, meaning you're at -4 HP.

Your roll of 12 was thus an 8 (in the KO zone) and your roll of 4 was a 0, which means dead.

IF YOU LIKE, we can say that instead of rolling a Death Check, you lost your hat again to take no damage...or you can roll up a new character on the generator!

I renew my vendetta against clowns with additional rage.

SLICK: 11 + 1 = 12

D6 = 6 on the first roll, 2 on the second

D4 = 4
