Re: Scene VI: A Hot Air Balloon
The Bean Bunch steer the balloon (as best as one can steer a balloon) south and east, in the direction of Groutbight Docks, where they hope they can board a ship to pastures new. What life awaits them outside the Dust Barrens? Only fate will decide...and as the silver coins minted in Dalliance have stamped on their surface: "Man Proposes, Fate Disposes."
At first the going is easy, and the balloon rides along on a swift wind, but before long a violent storm sweeps in from the west, howling out of the teeth of Allhallows Canyon, and the balloon is tossed about in the air like a rag-doll. The Bean Bunch will have to do their utmost to keep the out-of-control balloon afloat while the storm whips about them, threatening to tear their craft to pieces...
Each member of the Bean Bunch may now take the following actions:
1. Brace The PC gains Advantage (rolling 2d20) on any ability check imposed by the storm until the start of their next turn.
2. Try to Navigate out of the storm. The PC checks WITS. Only one PC can attempt to navigate each round.
3. Release a sandbag/bicycle/animal, gaining altitude. There are 4 sandbags, 4 bicycles and 2 animals (Doc's not included, though I suppose the others don't realise it's him). This action is not necessary on the first round, as the balloon has not suffered any damage yet.
4. Reach out and try to grab some passing debris whipping past in the storm (there's all kinds of junk out there flying past)
5. Something else entirely! You let me know...

My fire is more than can be made with forests,
My state more base than are the basest valleys;
I wish no evenings more to see, each evening;
Shamed, I hate myself in sight of mountains,
And stop mine ears, lest I grow mad with music.
My state more base than are the basest valleys;
I wish no evenings more to see, each evening;
Shamed, I hate myself in sight of mountains,
And stop mine ears, lest I grow mad with music.
Re: Scene VI: A Hot Air Balloon
As joint highest WITS with Cumflutter, I’ll navigate this round:
6 + 2 = 8
Using an Ace: 13 + 2 = 15
6 + 2 = 8

Using an Ace: 13 + 2 = 15
Re: Scene VI: A Hot Air Balloon
Dog-Doc will brace while trying not to urinate nervously inside the basket.

Re: Scene VI: A Hot Air Balloon
Do we all need to roll a Brace on this turn?
(If so 13 + 12)
(If so 13 + 12)
Re: Scene VI: A Hot Air Balloon
I don't think you roll now, I think it just means you get advantage on any ability checks this round.Animalmother wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 9:52 amDo we all need to roll a Brace on this turn?

Scrancher will reach out and see if he can nab anything useful out of the air.

Roll a d6, Scrancher, followed by a d66 (2d6, but show the separate rolls).

Re: Scene VI: A Hot Air Balloon
Dog-Doc and Cumflutter brace themselves in the basket.
Scrancher snatches a stained handkerchief out of the wind.
Cadaver Kid, by a miracle, keeps the balloon on course, but soon afterwards the craft is pelted by a shower of hard debris and the balloon takes damage!
Everyone must now test SLICK to avoid being struck by a flying piece of debris! Everyone who braced last time may roll 2d20 and choose the better roll.

6 + 1 = 7
I think I had a second ace? If so, I’ll use it:
Exactly the same roll.

Re: Scene VI: A Hot Air Balloon
I think I'll let that handkerchief go off on the wind.
6+2 for my slick test.
If I fall off the balloon because I was busy snatching a dirty tissue out of the sky..
