Yeah, VR performance is something I'm thinking about, particularly with my Rift S already looking quite dated in terms of resolution and features and there are already headsets that would offer me a big upgrade in clarity. I think whichever card I go for (and I'm definitely considering the 3080 if that's the final asking price), I'm going to get a vast increase in performance. My current card is the AMD equivalent of a GTX 980, it's three generations old now.

The difference in price is pretty astounding, pretty much what I was hoping for ready for when I replace my 980Ti.

Here's hoping Intel bring out some new architecture chipsets in the next couple of years which are a similar leap and not just over locked versions of their older ones. That'll be when I go all in on a new rig.

Such crazy prices for graphics cards. You used to be able to get a good mid tier card for around £200 but Nvidia have just pushed that out so far, I still can't quite believe I spent around £350 on my 2060 Super last year.

You could just go for a Ryzen chip, they are already pretty great.

I knew when the crypto mining fad pushed the prices up that they wouldn't be coming back down again. Why would a big corporation with shareholders to report to willingly charge less when the market will pay it?

Are we expecting the Nvidia branded cards to be available on e-commerce sites other than their official store? Other manufacturers have had their cards listed (though unpriced) on the likes of CCL and overclockers, but the Nvidia ones are nowhere to be seen.

Just saw this on reddit, made me smile -
Twas the night before Ampere, when all through the house
Chrome tabs were refreshing, frantic clicks of the mouse.
The builds were all ready, prepared with care
In the hopes that Jensen, would soon be there.

The fans were all nestled, comfy in their chairs,
while visions of RTX that would soon be theirs,
The partners confused, but there in support
for a lesson those partners, would soon be taught.

A lesson of raytracing, gaming in style
The fans they were hoping it would be worth while.
With hours to go and after convincing their Katies,
They would soon all have, their 3080s.

But fear not if you don't grab your card tonight,
For Jensen will be there, to wrap yours up tight,
Don't frantically refresh or f5 in hate,
ultimately, the cards will be great.

3060Ti looking pretty spicy, 2080 Super beating performance for £370.
