Re: General Film News
It's definitely a marmite film. Out of curiosity, would you rather Disney played it safer with Star Wars so that future films are decent but predictable, or took more risks like they did with TLJ so that some people love them and others hate them? A year ago I'd have said most people wanted the latt...

Re: General Film News
Then, sir, I throw down the gauntlet and challenge you! By way of bullet point, what is so good about that movie? Oh crikey, I've not made a bullet-point list for a while! Here goes... Pros - I love what they did with Luke. That's probably the most divisive thing about it, but it makes so much sens...

Re: General Film News
If the characters in Rogue One didn't think it was a suicide mission before embarking on it, there would have been no gravitas. If they'd gone in expecting to die (which they did) and then survived, it would have felt cheap and gone against one of the key purposes of the film: to show that unlike th...

Yeah, regardless of whether a more elegant solution is found, I don't think there's any question that the halo has saved probably two lives or at least prevented two severe injuries. I can't imagine anyone arguing against it now.

Re: Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft - Boomsday Project
I played loads for a couple of years (never spending a penny) then stopped playing about a week after the Old Gods cards were dropped from standard. I loved my various C'thun decks, even when they became highly noncompetitive, and I didn't enjoy any of the other decks I tried as an alternative. I mi...

Re: Ye Olde English Complaining About The Weather Thread
Sounds nice; here it was literally 32+ and felt about 40! Yeah I was still grateful living down here in the SW! Perhaps I should move to north Scotland. Seems to be nice and comfortable almost all year round... I have family up in Orkney that I visit every year. They were complaining about how hot ...

Re: Ye Olde English Complaining About The Weather Thread
It's pleasantly mild and breezy here in Lancaster, with occasional rain (sadly no chilli con carne or sparkling champagne). I'd prefer freezing cold weather, but considering the godawful blazing heat we've endured this summer I'm revelling in being able to sleep comfortably again.

Re: Currently Playing
I've been playing Wasteland 2 , which is proving to be excellent and frustrating in equal measures. It's 90% of the way towards being one of my top RPGs of all time, but it frequently falls short of expectations with quests that have not so much unexpected consequences as unintended and misleading c...

Re: Favourite Films
It's a strange thing - there are films I watched and loved at a very young age that I clearly can't have followed to any significant degree, but I loved them nonetheless. It's surprising how well kids can follow the gist of a well-made film from things like the music and tone of the characters, even...

Re: Favourite Films
I only watched The Goonies for the first time about five years ago. It's fun, but I think maybe it's one you had to grow up with to properly appreciate.

Re: GET TO DA CHOPPAH! The 80s actiontastic retro thread
\:D/ I may have an 80s action fest this bank holiday weekend. I really want to re-watch No Dead Heroes, a little known gem of utter woe that ticks every 80s action box imaginable. The issue is there are no rips available and it was never released on DVD, so I'll have to see if I've still got a VHS p...
